Casa Flutuante B038 ***
In the heart of Amsterdam this ship called the “Adriana” (20 mtr or 65 ft) is for real lovers of historic cargo sailingships, which were widely used in Holland for transport throughout the nineteenth century and well into the twentieth century.
Built in 1888 as a “Haagsche Aak”, she is in fact one of the oldest ships in Amsterdam. It’s still in authentic condition, which means ceilings are not too high (2.00 mtr or 6’3 ft). She’s located right in the middle of the Jordaan area, close to the Anne Frank House and Central Station.
The owner Jeroen provides for everything such as towels, toiletpaper, tea & coffee as well as a parking garage in case you travel by car, all free of charge !
The entrance is by a solid bridge with handlebars leading you on deck and to a hatch-type entrance, but do mind the steep staircase ! Inside you’ll find a very traditional and cosy interiour with the old Captain’s double bedded family room still fully in tact ! Next is a bathroom with shower and toilet. Then into the large living-room with a comfortable sofa which can be turned into a double bed, a fully operational kitchen and a small dining table. In the front of the ship you’ll find a cosy box bed style double.
The portholes on the sides and windows in the roof allow plenty of light to enter.
Finally, a fast internet connection, cable television & radio/ i-pod and central heating provides you with modern comfort in a historic atmosphere.
Sitting outside on deck you have an excellent view over the canal and its typical canal houses. In the Haarlemmerstraat you’ll find lots of specialized shops and restaurants as well as the Saturdays organic market at the nearby Noordermarkt. You’ll find yourself at home in this beautiful part of Amsterdam and we hope to welcome you for a few relaxed days on board the Adriana.
