Woonboot verhuur Amsterdam House-Boat Hotel Amsterdam

WOONBOOT B117 *****

This former barge from 1896 is pretty large for 2 persons, but the owners made the interiour intimate and very comfortable. It is just completely and traditional restored and transformed into a luxury accommodation, perfect for a romantic couple or honeymoon. In the neighbourghood you can rent small motorboats to make a tour.

The interior is done by a interior designer and the hippie-boho chic interior is elegant and stylish, a light and open loft like space. The main materials used are Birmese teak and French Oak. The fully equipped kitchen with a stove any chef would appreciate is based in the original galley on the stern overlooking the spacious living room formerly known as the den (the cargo hold) with a cosy fireplace and lots of portholes.

The bow holts the spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower and a large bedroom with a modern version of a traditional cupboard bed . Both the living room as well as the bedroom has a panorama-glass roof overlooking all the breathtaking canal houses part of Unesco World Heritage site. And of course all necessaries like wifi, flatscreen, sound system, micro-wave, and espresso-coffeemaker are available. There is outside on the deck a couch and two 'hanging' chairs from where you can overview the canal and all passing ships!

The boat is moored in the first canal of the city that is called 'the Singel'. The wealthiest merchants in the city settled here in the 17th century and the whole environment recalls earlier times, when Amsterdam had a very thriving trade and port. It was not just trade that flourished in the Golden Age: Dutch artists and scientists of the time are still world-famous today.

At this stunning spot you will have a direct view on the "Koepel Church" and the "Eenhoornsluis" a very important sea-lock also from the 17th century also knows as "souvenir d'Amsterdam" a well known painting by Matthijs Maris (1871) to be seen at the Rijksmuseum. It is on short walking distance to the Central Station (Amsterdams main transport hub) and all the main city attractions as: the Anne Franks House, the Western Church, the Dam square with its famous palace, the smallest house on the world on Singel 7, Cafe Papeneiland (the oldest cafe in Amsterdam-1641), the Northern Church with its organic and flea market and just around the corner the Haarlemmerstreet-voted best street in the Netherlands- with its authentic cafe's, trendy bars, hip restaurants and unique boutique shops. Also for the organic and vega-lovers the place to be.

Amazing stay
by Robert Copley

The houseboat was clean, well stocked, and in a safe, quiet, and convenient location. We loved sitting in the hammock chairs on the top deck and waving at the tour boats passing by. We would absolutely stay again the next time we visit Amsterdam.

The perfect home in Amsterdam
by Lynn Hess

We had a wonderful time in Amsterdam. Ellen was the perfect host. The houseboat is ideally situated with easy access to everything yet a peaceful and quiet haven after an intense day of site seeing. It was so much bigger and nicer than the pictures lead you to think (a very welcome and rare positive surprise). We will definitely be recommending it to our friends.

Ideal Amsterdam Accommodation
by Jeremy Jefferies

This is a lovely old barge on the oldest canal: quiet and charming (with shops and restaurants to match) but also convenient for the city centre (and the railway station).
The barge is large and very spacious for two (with bed to match). It is comfy and warm, you are welcomed to, but do not need to also use, the generous log pile for the wood burning stove .
You have a well equipped kitchen, TV etc and the best shower ever.
Ellen is a delightful hostess who really enjoys filling you in on the lesser known local delights.
We loved it here. Couldn't imagine anything better.
You are advised though to pack and carry a torch because the 5 locks and bolts to the 3 leaf entry
hatch have an idiosyncratic reluctance to let one in or out.
