House-Boat B011 **

Geminia II is the name of this floating house. It is mooring on Amsterdam's most outer ring canal, on Jozef Israëlskade, that borders between 2 districts “De Pijp” (considering as Amsterdam's Quartier Latin with a lively mixture of culture, food and sights) and “Rivierenbuurt” (Rivers Neighborhood hence most of the streets are named after Dutch rivers). This is the birthplace and home to some of the very best of Amsterdamse School of architecture and it's here, guests will marvel maze of brick buildings that were built in round and expressive forms, with towers, figurative sculptures, ornamental spires and decorative windows and doors. Just a stone’s throw away from Jozef Israëlskade is Amsterdam’s main river, De Amstel. Strolling a long its riverbank is the joy of watching the river’s most frenzy water activity, the rowing.

TheHouse-Boat II's lay out and decoration offer guests the enchanting country-living style ambience. Its fully furnished interior also provides the most pleasant and comfort of a home for your stay and visit of Amsterdam and it can accommodate up to four people. Two in the bright bedroom with a queen-size bed and two on a large pull-out sofa bed in the living room.

The living room is dominating by a wall unit that adorns with a large collection of various charming and decorative items that reflect the owners' personal touch. The cozy arrangement of the siting area with comfortable sofas does give guests a full view out to the water. Also here, a window can be open for direct access to a small boat landing and for guests to sit watching the canal's water activities and it's living nature such as birds, ducks and swans. There is a folded dining table that tugs nicely between the sofa and the kitchen and it can be unfolded to sit up to 6 persons. The warm solid-pinewood of an open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessities to ensure your stay a hassle free one. Next is the stylishly finished bathroom with heating radiator and has a walk-in shower, a washbasin, a WC and fresh towels. For your disposal, iDock is provided and high speed Wi-Fi is available as well as many cable channels to browse plus washing machine, iron and ironing board.

To make guests' stay more convenient, the houseboat situates just one block away from the busy commercial street of Van Woustraat. Here guests can find numerous supermarkets, convenient stores, specialty shops, international eateries/restaurants, bars/cafes and many other services. Furthermore, on this same street, tram number 4 can be taken for a short ride direction north to city center and central station or south to RAI exhibition center and Amsterdam RAI train station.

Urlaub auf dem Hausboot B011
by Aaron Neumann

Perfect for our family of 4! Real neighborhood feel
by Margaret Fraser

Rita started off our visit well by meeting us at the door to her charming houseboat. She had good ideas and was very helpful. We loved the neighborhood, de Pijp. Only 5-10 minutes walk from the houseboat are a number of good places to eat, ranging from Dutch: Eten aan de Rijn (one of our favorites), to Turkish to hip Italian. Also several good groceries with fresh produce, variety of all foods and prepared dinners if you want to eat in.
Rita made up the 2 sofas for our 12 and 14 year old. Houseboats are not large, but this one was laid out in a way that fit us all. Well-organized, clean kitchen. Quiet canal, neighborhood feel. This is apart from the tourist action, which we were glad to go to see, and glad to escape from as well. One day we rented bikes from a place 2 minutes walk away, and biked north over to Durmerdang and Ramsdorp and all around - beautiful, and the bike lanes and accommodations are so impressive. On our final day, Rita arranged an early morning cab to the airport. Thanks, Rita and Rod. We hope to be back and will stay with you again!

Amsterdam Trip 6/20 - 6/27
by Diane Jon-Ming

We truly enjoyed our stay on the houseboat. What more could we have asked for. It had all of the amenities you would need. There were four of us my husband and with two teenage grandkids who were throughly enthralled by it all and you know how hard it is to please teenagers, they had their wifi and TV. The houseboat was bright, cheerful and homey. My granddaughter and I slept in the bedroom which was prefect for us and husband and grandson slept on the large double pull out couch perfect for four people. We arrived later than our expected time and Rita was waiting for us with a lovely welcoming smile. The view on the water was wonderful we enjoyed looking out the large picture windows at all the activity going on; there was a mother and father duck waiting for their eggs to hatch..we were looking every day hoping they would hatch so we could see the babies before we had to leave. You can get the #4 tram and in 20 minutes you can be at the Central Station. Plenty of shops and places to eat in the area as well, right around the corner. Rita and Rod were the best, wonderful people at making you feel at home away from home. Once again can't say enough we LOVE'D it.
