House-Boat B038 ***

In the heart of Amsterdam, this ship is for real lovers of historical cargo sailingships which were widely used in Holland for transport throughout the nineteenth century and well into the twentieth century. It's still in authentic condition, which means ceilings are not too high (1.90 mtr. or 6'2" ft). Built in 1888 as a "Haagsche Aak", she is in fact one of the oldest ships in Amsterdam. She is located right in the middle of the Jordaan area, close to the Anne Frank House and Central Station. There is a parking garage free of charge!

The entrance is by a solid bridge with handlebars leading you on deck and to a hatch-type entrance, but do mind the steep staircase! Inside you'll find a very traditional and cosy interior with the old Captains double bedded family room still fully intact! Next is a bathroom with shower and toilet. Then into the living-room with kitchenette. The portholes in the side and windows in the roof provide plenty of light. There is a double bed at the front of the ship and the couch in the living room can also be turned  into a double bed so that 3 persons can sleep separately. A fast wireless internet connection, cable televesion/video and radio/cd player are also at your disposal.

Sitting outside on deck you have an excellent view over the canal and its typical canal houses. In the area you will find lots of specialized shops and restaurants as well as the Saterdays farmers market. Your hosts serve breakfast on request. You'll find yourself at home in this beautiful part of Amsterdam and we hope to welcome you for a few days on board the Adriana. Reviews.

Great way to end our vacation
by Vickie WILSON

We stayed in House-Boat B038 at the end of a 3 week European vacation. We are so glad we did this instead of another hotel room. We had our 2 teenage daughters with us and we all fit very comfortably. We were a bit late upon arrival and the owner was casually waiting on the deck of the boat. He had a few cold "drinks" waiting for us which was greatly appreciated! We found the location to be perfect. Far enough away from the busy main area, but close enough to walk there. And of course just around the corner are a few great choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had tickets to the Anne Frank museum and the boat was only a few blocks from there. The boat itself was very clean and had everything we needed. We didn't end up cooking as we enjoyed eating out, but it was so nice to make coffee in the morning and sit on the deck watching the tourist boats go by on their canal cruises.
We would recommend this unique experience to anyone heading to Amsterdam.

Ein Traum wurde wahr !
by Doris Adam
