Amsterdam Houseboat House-Boat Hotel Amsterdam

This boat is located on the edge of the very popular Jordaan in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city, just a short walk from the Central Station Amsterdam. Around the corner there is the famous Noordermarket (market days are Saturday and Monday), Anne Frank House and many restaurants, cafés and pubs. This is the place to experience Amsterdam.
In 2012,  the owner lovingly renovated the boat that has a colourful history.  It was originally built in 1934 to be tugged around Amsterdam with deck freight. The owner christened her, after his wife, ‘Jantje’.  Jantje was known for liking a drink or two. Very quickly the people of Amsterdam named the boat the ‘blauwe’ Jantje. Blauw is not only the colour blue but also means intoxicated in street language.
This colourful history was the theme for the interiour of the boat, which is blue. The boat has a  well-equipped open plan kitchen,  a bathroom and a separate toilet. The spacious master bedroom has a king size bed. There is also a smaller bedroom with a bunk bed.

Enjoyable Stay
by Victoria Metzger

Four of us stayed on this houseboat for 3 nights and it was a great experience! The location is great. It's very close to lots of attractions and to many tram stops. The house was very clean and spacious. The four of us did not feel like we were on top of each other at all. We really enjoyed having wine and cheese out on the deck, even thought it was small. Our only complaint would be that the boat is located directly in front of a bar and it got a bit noisy at night. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this houseboat!

Family stay at B092
by Michael Schlueter

I was travelling with my wife and sons (11, 13). Dan, the owner, was a very very nice guy. Seemed happy to give us information and made us feel very comfortable on his boat.
It is also fair that I mention that I am a little bit spoiled with lodging/hotels. I do like a nice hotel.
We booked VRBO apartments in London, Paris, and this boat in Amsterdam. I would say that all three were very much similar in comfort/style. They all seemed like "dorm room" life to me. The boat is not luxurious but very adequate for a family. It was an amazing experience to even say we slept on a houseboat - our friends were all excited at the idea and I love the look when I told them we were going to do it.
The street was very noisy. It is Amsterdam I suppose. I am a light sleeper (as is my wife) and we were woken up quite a few times through the night. Also, the morning noise starts much earlier than I would have expected. So sleep was not great. Luckily, the kids slept like stones.
There was no A/C. This was the case at all three places we stayed. Apparently very common in Europe - but new to me. Wasn't a big problem as the weather was not bad - but allergies sometimes prefer the air conditioning.
The boat did not move or sway. I was concerned and I felt just as though I was on dry land.
I wouldn't do it again - but I would suggest the experience is worth doing once - for sure! .......and you can't beat the price. :)
Thanks Dan
