Amsterdam Houseboat House-Boat Hotel Amsterdam

Geminia II is the name of this floating house. It is moored on Amsterdam's most outer ring canal, on the Jozef Israëlskade, which borders between 2 districts “De Pijp” (considering as Amsterdam's Quartier Latin with a lively mixture of culture, food and sights) and “Rivierenbuurt” (Rivers Neighborhood hence most of the streets are named after Dutch rivers). This is the birthplace and home to some of the very best of Amsterdamse School of architecture. Everywhere around you there are brick buildings that were built in round and expressive forms, with towers, figurative sculptures, ornamental spires and decorative windows and doors. Just a stone’s throw away from the Jozef Israëlskade is Amsterdam’s main river, the Amstel. Strolling along its riverbank is the joy of watching the river’s most frenzy water activity, the rowing.

The boat is decorated in an enchanting country-living style. It is fully furnished and offers plenty of comfort during your stay in Amsterdam. It can accommodate up to four people. Two in the bright bedroom with a queen-size bed and two on a large pull-out sofa bed in the living room.

The open cabinet in the living room displays various charming and decorative items that reflect the owners' personal touch. The view from the sitting area over the water is beautiful. One of the windows can be opened for direct access to a small boat landing where guests can sit and watch the canal's water activities and it's living nature such as birds, ducks and swans. The dining table is located the sitting area and the kitchen and can be unfolded to offer space for 6 persons. The wooden open plan kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary amenities to prepare your meals. The bathroom features a heating radiator, a walk-in shower, a washbasin, a toilet and fresh towels. You can use the available iDock and of course there is free wifi and a tv with many different channels. There is also a washing machine, iron and ironing board.

For your basic and grocery shopping you can just walk to the neighbouring Van Woustraat with numerous supermarkets, convenience stores, specialty shops, international eateries/restaurants, bars/cafes and many other services. In the Van Woustraat you can rent bikes or get on tram 4. The tram heading north takes you to the city center and central station and the tram heading south brings you to the RAI conference center/train station.

Lovely peaceful houseboat stay
by Sarah Watkins

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The houseboat is in a lovely position, away from the crowds but easy access to everything. We really enjoyed sitting looking out of the large picture window on to the canal and watching life go by. The booking went very smoothly and the owners were available to help whenever we had a query. In fact they went above and beyond when I left some things on the houseboat! Everything was provided in the kitchen & bathroom and the beds were comfortable. We had a lovely stay. Thank you!
