Amsterdam Houseboat House-Boat Hotel Amsterdam

BOAT BK75, guestroom ***

This B&B for one couple, is named 'The KeizerInn' and derives its name from the location on the Nieuwe Keizersgracht in Central Amsterdam. A quiet place where you can sleep well and safe, and yet with all interesting buildings and places within walking distance. In less then a 10 minute walk you can visit the Hermitage, the Waterloo square, de "Magere Brug', the Zoo, Royal Theatre Carré and many other interesting places and musea.
Your host can give you on request for a small surcharge, a laid back tour in his super selfmade 'lounge boat' through the canals, (see the picture below of the loungeboat).

Privacy is important for your host, so he create a private entrance to the cabin with bedroom below, well isolated. From the wheelhouse you have an excellent view over the canal and the adjacent park. Below you find a double bed, a kitchen unit, a modern shower and an underfloor heating. There is a radio, telvision and wifi. There is a lot of traffic during the day, canal bikes and boats with tourists will pass. When the weather is nice and you sit on the deck, tourists will wish they were you when you relax on the deck enjoying a drink!

Not only the location, but also the boat is exceptional. The KeizerInn is part of a Gronginger Bol, a steel ship from 1904 that has long served as a freighter. Not only the obvious nature of the ship, but also some details that have survived, provide an intimate atmosphere and make your stay in the KeizerInn pleasant and unforgettable. A supermarket is nearby as well as many restaurants and café's. Review!

A nice stay in a tidy houseboat
by Duane Zehr

Spent three nights in Amsterdam on this boat as a stop on the way back from a safari trip in Tanzania, and the accommodations were great. Peter, the owner, kept the boat in immaculate condition, and the location was a nice alternative to staying in a hotel. Only the cool and drizzly weather kept us from enjoying the lounge seating atop the boat, which would've been a nice experience in better weather. Would highly recommend this boat for travelers looking for something a bit different in accommodations. The bed, bathroom and small kitchenette were comfortable, and even in the less than perfect weather, having wine and cheese, and morning coffee, in the enclosed and climate controlled wheelhouse topside was nice.

A nautical success!10

My sister and I recently stayed on Peter Klerk's houseboat in Amsterdam. Peter could not have been more welcoming. He has thought of everything to make you comfortable in such a small space, even down to the two dressing gowns and hairdryer. You can cook a meal (we didn't bother) and it was an excellent shower. You can relax on deck with a glass of wine and watch the boats sail by. It was absolutely super, and we hope to visit again next year!

Review for BK75
by Philip Stewart

My wife and I stayed on this houseboat for 4 days in July 2015 and it was a great experience! The location was close to activities and public transit lines yet quiet in the evenings. Peter is an excellent host and is a very good resource for pointing us toward good restaurants, services such as grocery, and attractions. The room felt private and included all the necessities of a hotel. Very highly recommend it!
