House-Boat B020 ****

Highly recommended: a very luxurious and grand barge, for  4 - 6 persons. It is set on a spectacular rebuilt ship and is located on a beautiful spot on a island less then 10 minutes by bus or bike from Central Station. There are a lot of visitors in this area during the day, because of it's well known buildings and famous architecture. A supermarket is close by, restaurants and café's as well. Bikes are for rent on the island. Children are welcome, there are 3 life-jackets on board. Houseboat B027 (4 - 6 persons) is nearly next door.

The boat has a modern central heating system, but in the lounge you find
a woodstove for the cosiness. There is a modern well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. In the middle of the boat is a real patio with a glass removable roof with a banana tree and grapes. This patio can be used in the winter as well! There are two bedrooms, spacey and classically decorated, both with private bathrooms with tub and there are extra rollaway beds. From the deck you have a splendid view of passing ships. Further you find two televisions, dvd-player, radio, cd-player and a computer with fast internet connection with Skype on board. The Captain can take you for a tour for a half day (for a reasonable price), to the flowerfields or small villages in the North in a beautiful sloop.Click

If  the weather and schedule permit it, you will be picked up by sloop from Central Station. It takes 10 minutes. Reviews!

La paix niche à Levantkade
by Antoine PAOLI

Amazing Boat, wonderful long weekend!
by Marta Laska

Captain’s Boat is delightful and practical, we spent a weekend there and we would very much like to come back. Boat is located in the quiet area, just 15 minutes away from the city center by tram. You have some lovely cafes outside by the canal which we had a wonderful breakfast in.
Your host – the Captain, lives on the boat in a separate ‘flat’ but you don’t really see him at all, unless you need him. He’s very helpful, super friendly and has a stocked beer fridge – in case you came unprepared.
The boat itself is furnished in an chic/hippyish style, very tasteful with lots of attention to detail. Rooms are big and comfortable, fully equipped kitchen means you can cook if you’d like to, and the patio area is just excellent!
I would definitely fully recommend staying with the Captain, hopefully we will be back soon!

We'd go back in an instant
by richard cohen

This was the thirteenth consecutive time that my family of five has gone on a summer holiday together - which may not seem at all remarkable, but the children are now 30, 27 and 25. What new destination might interest them? This was our first time on a houseboat, and my wife certainly had any number of doubts -- would the ceilings be too low? How much room would there be, especially if one of the children's friends suddenly came to join us? This houseboat was on an island, some way from the city center - would that be a problem?
In the event, we had high ceilings, wonderful space, eccentric but beguiling decor (the owner is a painter, and also a collector of miniature ships, mementoes from his years at sea, and plants, plants, plants -- the boat is like a miniature garden), and even beer and wine laid in for us, at amazingly low cost.
Trams into the main railway station were frequent and easy, while we also hired bikes (my wife and I a tandem, to the amusement of the family). Shopping was an easy five minutes walk away, while even closer were two excellent restaurants, cheap and friendly. A nearby cafe served up excellent coffee and required chess boards.
The beds were comfortable, the two bathrooms enough for our needs, especially when we found ourselves not the planned five but eight people. Our captain, the genial Eugene, a burly figure who might have given Tintin's captain a good fight, gave us the extra bedding and all was well. His daughter took us to the station by small boat when we left, and a young family friend used the same sloop to give us a tour round the canals one sunny afternoon.
Does this give you the idea that we had a wonderful holiday? It should -- because it was.
