amsterdam houseboats rentals House-Boat Hotel Amsterdam

House-Boat B092 ***

This boat is located on the edge of the very popular Jordaan in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city, just a short walk from the Central Station Amsterdam. Around the corner there is the famous Noordermarket (market days are Saturday and Monday), Anne Frank House and many restaurants, cafés and pubs. This is the place to experience Amsterdam.

In 2012,  the owner lovingly renovated the boat that has a colourful history.  It was originally built in 1934 to be tugged around Amsterdam with deck freight. The owner christened her, after his wife, ‘Jantje’.  Jantje was known for liking a drink or two. Very quickly the people of Amsterdam named the boat the ‘blauwe’ Jantje. Blauw is not only the colour blue but also means intoxicated in street language.

This colourful history was the theme for the interiour of the boat, which is blue. The boat has a  well-equipped open plan kitchen,  a bathroom and a separate toilet. The spacious master bedroom has a king size bed. There is also a smaller bedroom with a bunk bed.

Amazing accommodations in Amsterdam!
by Elizabeth Thuning

In my experience, the best way to get a good feel for a place I'm visiting is to immerse myself in the surroundings ... become a part of where I am. When my mother, sister and I chose Amsterdam for our latest excursion we couldn't resist the opportunity to spend our down time among the locals on a canal in our very own house-boat, 'Blauwe' Jante. Owner, Jochem Bakker, has a great place which is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main drags to make one feel as if you're a million miles away. It was a terrific alternative to a cramped hotel room and gave us the space we all needed in the evening to relax and banter about our activities of the day. The boat was clean, well furnished and left nothing to be desired. Jochem was kind enough to stop by to acquaint us with the place and provide us with several tips on sights to see and great restaurants to try which we did our best to do in the short time we were there. We all agreed that we'd made the right choice in our accommodations and would highly recommend! Until next time ...

House-Boat B092
by Slavia Rietz

A Wonderful Stay
by Andrea

Our family of 4 (with my husband with our adult daughter and her boyfriend), stayed on Mr. Bakker houseboat October7-11, 2015. The boat itself is exactly as shown in the pictures. In the neighborhood of Jordaan, we arrived at Central Station, and it was a 10 minute walk...suddenly away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area, truly a quiet home away from home to end our days of sightseeing. A pub is across the road (literally steps), grocery a short walk, and Mr. Bakker supplies everything needed for your stay! He spent a significant amount of time with us, giving the directions we needed, recommendations for meals, as well as the ins and outs of the boat. The deck is small but sufficient (as we enjoy coffee and a cigarette in the morning). I could not imagine another way to visit Amsterdam then staying on Mr. Bakker's boat! The location is within walking distance to all the major sites, the trams are very easy to use. Do not hesitate...book and enjoy!
