amsterdam houseboats rentals House-Boat Hotel Amsterdam

House-Boat BK142 ***

This is a lovely small studio on a houseboat with a private entrance. It consists of a room, bathroom and kitchenette and a couch in front of the boat on the street side. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming and you have privacy.  The location is excellent, on the Korte Prinsengracht, a ten minute walk from Central Station. The owner placed a web cam on his boat, And here you see a movie of the 'Eenhoornsluis', made by Thomas Schlijper. On the right side you see the white boat (with plants on the roof).

The neighborhood is lively with café's and restaurants. The Anna Frank House, the Noordermarkt with a lot of vintage (Saturdays and Mondays) and the Jordaan with the famous nine little streets are nearby. Mooring right on the site of Amsterdam's monumental Unicorn Sluis Bridge & Lock dating back in the 15th century and on the Korte Prinsengracht, in-line with the famous Prinsengracht. Looking down the Prinsengracht you can see the tower of the Westerchurch. Also the Wednesday natural foods market on the Haarlemmerplein is a 5 minute walk.

Guests here are in for a real treat due to the fact of staying right at the heart of the culture, shopping, dining and nightlife of two most colorful and boisterous streets of Amsterdam, Haarlemmerstraat & Haarlemmerdijk, and the vibrant neighborhood of the Jordaan district.

The Asoka (someone named the boat previously after an Indian Prince) is an original Dutch house boat. It was first a wrought iron work ship launched in 1908. The house part was built into the curves of the boat in the 1930's.

After many incarnations it has evolved into this lovely place on the Korte Prinsengracht for you to enjoy. Feel the romance in your cozy little home on the canal as the city streams about you. Feel your houseboat gently sway when boats pass by.

Feel your love and lover in a totally wonderful setting encircled in the passion of Amsterdam. It is all part of the 'house boat experience' that we have here in Amsterdam. A tradition that's been quietly going on for a hundred years. And now, you have a chance to enjoy the water, to share with your partner, to entwine yourselves in the history, love, and romance of this lovely houseboat on the Korte Prinsengracht.

This was by far the best stay we have had in Amsterdam. Ted the owner was the perfect host and I was very reassured to have a message from him the day before we left confirming all the details . The boat was in the best location for us a 2 minute walk to coffee shops and good food shops that were not jam packed , and a 5 minute walk to the main centre of Amsterdam for all the ‘touristy’ loud, busy bits that I prefer to avoid at night but enjoy to wander around in the day and early evening. The shower was hot whenever used and the heating kept the boat at ideal temperature. We spent a lot of time just sat in the window seat watching the world go by , and feeding the ducks that soon worked out what time to be around in the mornings . I would highly recommend staying on this boat , just wish we had done this on previous visits instead of being in a hotel as you miss so much the feeling of being in such an amazing place not staying on the water .
