Close to the centre, only 15 minutes walk to the Dam square and 5 minutes from the Heineken Brewery and square, you find this sunny bedroom with  kitchenette, study and patio on the ground floor of a totally renovated house, built in 1895. A heavenly tranquility in the middle of one of the most vibrant areas in the city. Optionally there is also a garage for rent for 25 euro a day.

The house has bright colors and it offers a perfect combination of old details with modern comfort.  The large palm tree in the middle of the patio is beautiful. The room is fairly exclusive and very relaxing with a private sauna and boxspring of 1.20 mtr. wide and 2.10 mtr. long. From the bed you can watch televison. The room has also a large skylight with an electrical operated curtain.

In the room is a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. The patio offers privacy  to cool off after the sauna, or to take a  sun bath. The study/office has to be shared, but is daily available and you can receive eventual visitors. In the study is an second water closet. In the garage you find a washer and dryer, iron and ironingboard. There are kitchen utilities to prepare breakfast or lunch and a microwave. Two supermarkets and a bakery are only a few steps away.

The house is located in the middle of the Pijp. The neighborhood is lively and quite busy and there are many small businesses, shops and art galleries established. Not to forget, the Albert Cuyp market behind the house, the longest market in the Netherlands. On the corner are at least 8 restaurants and even more café's, because this is the place to be for locals. You can rent bikes in the street but also walk to nearly all interesting places, the Rijksmuseum, the Leidsesquare, Casino, the Utrechtsestaat (exclusive clothes), Rembrandtsquare and Concertbuilding are all in less then 10 to 15 minutes to reach by footh.

Wonderful room for a romantic trip

The room is very clean and comfortable, Sauna is luxury and the hosts are very friendly! Bed is fairly narrow but fine for a romantic weekend trip. It is only a short walk to the city center and public tansfer is nearby. Albert Cuyp and the supemarket are just around the corner. We will definitely book again. Thanks Isabel

Charming room

We loved this little treasure of a place to stay. The room is well furnished and very comfortable, the hosts are very friendly without being intrusive and the location is great if you prefer to be away from the seedier central part of town (yet still full of character). The bed is fairly narrow, so if you're two fat people it would be a squeeze, but otherwise fantastic value for money in comparison to hotel rooms and the patio area is a nice place to relax. We would definitely book here again.

Wonderful accommodation and area!

For a special holiday over a week in Amsterdam, I chose AK88 to stay. The house is lovely, with the rental room very charming next to an open patio that is very quiet. The room and sauna were perfect for a week stay, being private or open and sunny. The garage has good kitchen facilities, so use of the open market just behind house is ideal. While being close to the market, the house and room are very quiet. There is a grocery store, restaurants, and many shops in this area. We found we could walk easily to the museum and city center, and then jump on the tram back to the house. Overall, this accommodation was ideal for those seeking an alternative to hotels, I highly recommend it and hope to be back soon!
