Skinny Bridge Boat B084 ****

Without any doubt this is the best location in Amsterdam for a houseboat: in the heart of the city on the sunny side of the Amstel River next to the ‘Skinny Bridge’ and the Royal theater Carré. The 'Skinny Bridge Boat' has completely been refurnished in 2012 giving guests the best facilities possible while keeping the authentic characteristics of the boat. Pure Vintage! Make yourself a coffee from fresh beans, relax on the Italian design couch, feel well rested after a night on the Eastborn boxspring, but most of all enjoy the fantastic view this place in Amsterdam offers. On several places you can sit outside on the deck, enjoy breakfast and the view on the lively Amstel. And since the best way to discover Amsterdam is from the waterside: just take the motorboat that is moored near the houseboat (max. 6 persons) for a spin in the city and enjoy your own private canal cruise anytime you like (motorboat available from May till October).

This houseboat is very spacious with two bedrooms, two bathrooms (1 large one with both a bath and a shower) two toilets and a large living room with sleeping couch. It is accessible by a private bridge. A small staircase brings you into the boat, a small hallway and then the large living room with open plan kitchen. The modern kitchen is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay: fridge, stove, microwave/oven, toaster, juice maker, water cooker, coffee machine etc. There is a bar table in front of the kitchen for the quick breakfast, a dining table and a comfortable sitting area. The couch can be easily transformed into a queen size quality bed. There is a large flatscreen television with movies on demand, wifi internet connection and radio/cd-player. Most of all guests appreciate the cozy atmosphere this boat has.

One of the bedrooms is located in the ol' captains den making it a very charming room. Walking outside over the gangway you reach this romantic suite. After having taken a bath in the classical bathtub you can go upstairs for a great view (with a cup of coffee or tea) from the place where the captain used to steer the boat.

The 'Skinny Bridge Boat' is the answer to an exclusive stay in Amsterdam. Even though it is situated in the heart of the city were the river is lively during the day, the nights are very quite. Only on a few occasions there are exceptions: on Queensday, during the Gay Parade (which passes in front of the boat) and when on May 5th, a part of the Amstel River changes into a podium for the Queen and visitors for an open air concert: Be quick if you want a free ticket on the first row!

It is always rented out to one group of persons at a time (max. 6 persons) ensuring your privacy during your stay.

New Years Eve in Amsterdam
by Maria Hartwig

My family and me, we stayed in this amazing houseboat for a whole week to experience the biggest party of the year here in Amsterdam. I guess there is no better place than on this house boat. It is right in the middle of the town, so that you can walk everywhere.
The boat is perfect for six people - even if you are six grown ups. It was also possible to stay here with kids, if you have an eye on them, what you normally do anyway. We traveled with a 5 and a 1/2 year old and it worked just fine.
My parents liked the coffee machine on the boat. It grindes the coffee beans before it brews the coffee. They liked it so much, that they bought there own.
You will find everything that is listed on the right side like a hair dryer, towels, pillows, sheets etc. Only pack your bag, get your family and go!
Thank you very much that you give the people this possibility to experience your boat at this special location!

Nov 1 - 5 ~ Cozy Boat 84 on the Amstel
by Jan Waite

We had a wonderful four night stay on Boat 84. Our party consisted of two couples which worked out great with the two separate bedroom suites. The design of this arrangement means that once you cross over the metal bridge from the street to the boat, then you are standing on the boat’s outside patio deck with two wooden chairs and fabulous view of the Amstel and the Magere Brug (skinny bridge).
Main Boat Area:
From the deck patio enter the gray door when takes you down a set of regular stairs, not the ladder type. As you enter the inside of the boat there is a small foyer then the kitchen and living room followed by a separate bedroom at the end. The main bathroom with shower and tub is next to the kitchen at the entry end of the boat. The water on Boat 84 has “hot water on demand” which was nice for hot baths. The kitchen and living room are one large room decorated nicely and comfortably. The kitchen is stainless steel with gas stove and sufficient dishes, pots, and pans for cooking. The oven is separate with microwave combined. It was difficult for us to figure out how to use this since we are not used to the symbols used for directions. We did figure it out eventually. The coffee pot is really nice in that it grinds the beans for you. The refrigerator is an eye catching bright orange. Very Amsterdam!
Second Separate Suite:
The second bedroom suite is not connected to the main part of the boat. Go back outside and enter from the metal bridge onto the boat deck. Turn immediately left and walk along the boat’s edge to the small cozy wheel house with padded bench seating and tea kettle where you can enter to experience great views and stay warm at the same time! Take the ladder type stairs down into the second bedroom suite where there is a nice bathtub IN the bedroom opposite the foot of the bed. Very cosy and romantic. The toilet is in a very small separate room with stain glass door. The only recommendation is that the windows in this suite need some type of window coverings like windows have in the main part of the boat. The couple with us who stayed in this suite made creative curtains from paper towels.
Location:
As for the location of this boat, it is fantastic! The views are unbelievable with the Skinny Bridge opening and closing for the water traffic which consists of all sorts of small and very large boats. The bridge is lit up at night which is really scenic. You can walk to the grocery store just down the street as well as to many restaurants, the hop on hop off canal cruise dock, the Waterloosplein Flea Market, and so many more places.
Highly Recommend
We have stayed in several boats on various canals in Amsterdam, but the Amstel is by far the best location. Boat 84 is very clean and well equipped for two couples or a family. The owner, Paul, is excellent to work with and looks like Matthew McConaughey! With an owner who looks like that and Boat 84 on the Amstel, you cannot go wrong!
