Vielen Dank für die Schöne Zeit auf diesem tollen Boot!!!
Das Schiff ist sehr schön und obwohl wir es nur als Quartier in Amsterdam genutzt haben hatte es ein sehr angenehmes flair, sodas wir kaum von Bord gingen :-)
Tom und seine Mannschaft sind sehr freundlich und zuvokommend!!!
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden gerne wiederkommen!

Firstly, I must thank both Tom and Marleen (+ Captain), for an absolutely epic few days in Amsterdam on their boat "The Avontuur", on the 15th August 2008. The boat was a godsend, perfect for hosting a large stag party like we had without the fuss of booking multiple rooms. I did my homework, the "Avontuur" was the best value for money I could find ....what a bonus!
The BBQ day out on the Saturday sailing round Amsterdam was spot on!! There was some top notch cooking on offer (thanks again Tom!) and a barrel of beer to see us through. Perfect start to our stag weekend, with no complaints whatsoever.
I would highly recommend the "Avontuur" if you are planning to go with a large party to Amsterdam for any occasion. To be honest, I wouldn't even bother trying anywhere else!

I am delighted to give feedback on our stay on Jan's fabulous boat the Avontuur. The photos did not do justice to the clipper which everyone was amazed by. It was the best nights sleep I think any of us had in years, great communal space and nothing was too much trouble for the captain.
My husband was delighted with the boat and we would heartily recommend staying on the Avontuur to anyone. I would ask you to apologise to Jan for the behaviour of one of our guests who may have confused Jan with his antics, all I can say is he had a long weekend and has now gone to lie down in a dark room.
We loved the boat however it did take a whole week before I stopped swaying, but I suppose thats my sea legs kicking in. The boat made a special birthday weekend very special and we hopefully will be back very soon.

The houseboat was something else. 30 metres long and 6 metres wide sleeps up to 24. 11 of us stayed and it worked out at 36 euros a night each for the outskirts of Amsterdam central.
Would stay again and thinking of going in the summer season when the boat actually sails.

Fabulous, huge wooden boat, geat place to hang out if in a group, not far from station but quite location, supermarket nearby we had great fun

Made very welcome, difficult to find at first so ask for the theatre, its behind there. The clipper is very warm, well equipped and the girl who greeted us was very helpful, any problems (there were only unforseeable small things) were sorted out asap. Well wroth the money, however the numbers in our party changed at the last minute so less of us arrived and we could not adjust the cost - so book for a low number of guests and if more turn up then just pay the extra. I'm sure that way around it won't be an issue. One of the better places I have stayed in Amsterdam.

We all had a fantastic stay on this boat; 13 of us went and had half of the boat to ourselves; although we thought we would be getting the whole boat and would be able to spread out in terms of the cabins, we weren't. The lounge area was plenty big enough for all of us though and well equipped with the basics. Jan, our host was most helpful and there was definitely a very relaxed feel to the place - our only complaint was the stereo; if you want to listen to some music whilst you're there, take your own - it was an old portable that skipped! Altogether, thoroughly enjoyed and had a great stay!

We had the most fantastic time in Amsterdam with all our 7 children and their and our friends. who would of thought that catering for 18 would of been so easy thanks to Jan's galley! Bunks were small for those over 6 feet tall but after visiting the local bars no complaints were heard. Jan was a very attentive host and even sent a man to fix the boiler at 10.30 pm on a Saturday night, not something you would get in England. Everyone loved the city and the boat. Unreserved recommendation for those seeking an alternative venue close to the city centre.
It's the best holiday they have had for sometime, we will definitely hire a houseboat again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

You cannot imagine my delight in boarding Avontuur for the first time... and the disappointment of having to leave so soon. What a wonderful, well kept and equiped vessel! The kitchen is anyone's dream if catering for large parties and every conceivable implement is at hand. The scullery was useful and practical and the showers coped with the volume of eager guests wanting to carry out their daily ablutions. It was especially useful to have 2 showers as it certainly helped get people ready. The main lounge area is so well laid-out that space is optimally used. Even the berths were very comfortable.
The Staff were delightful and always ready to help with suggestions and maps and our party were made to feel right at home.
Thank you to Jan, Maya and Johan for making my 30th birthday a truly memorable experience... hope to see you for a sail in the summer!
