Hausboot B032 (Excelsior) | 29 June 2011 Christian

Luxury on the water | 24 June 2011 Eloise Williams
This houseboat was exactly as pictured, absolutely gorgeous! Very comfortable, bigger than it appears in the photos. Location is good, a little too far from the city but close access to buses and a supermarket. During our stay we discovered the first night that there was no hot water which was quite upsetting but called the owner the next day and he fixed it very quickly that day and was very apologetic. Another minor issue we had was another boat pulled up the day we arrived and parked next to our boat that meant people and dogs walking all over the roof all the time which was obviously quite noisy. There is nothing anyone can do about this, it is just a part of being in a houseboat. Anyone looking to book a houseboat as a holiday should be aware of this! Overall we had some minor issues but the owner was always available to do whatever we needed and our stay was certainly very enjoyable. I would definitely highly recommend this particular houseboat.

The perfect end. | 3 June 2011 Reece Hill (AUS)
Staying on this house boat was the last thing we did on our European adventure. It was the perfect way to end it all. But made it hard to return home. The boat had room, room and more room. It was the prefect way to unwind and relax in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
5 stars from us and a very big thumbs up.
Highly recommended!

Very nice stay | 17 May 2011 Pascal
we just enjoyed our 5 days stay on that wonderfull boat. It is very big, around 200 m2. His wooded interirieur is wonderfull. Located at the haven you can watch big ships directly in front of your window. The area is very calm and we slept perfect. The host is very kind.
Fazit: A nice and uncomplicated trip. We can recommend that ship!

Holiday of a lifetime! | 4 May 2011 Phil & Holly
Our week long stay on the Excelsior simply excelled all expectations.
When we arrived Tommy was at the boat to welcome us. The boat is absolutely massive with beautiful features; the pictures on here do not do the room sizes justice. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is large with a great shower and luxury bath. The master bedroom is again of good size with a very comfy king sized bed! The captain’s room and deck were our favourite spaces. It was great to watch the port in action and witness the occasional cruise ferry float through the port! The boat does rock slightly but it just adds to the boating experience!
The neighbours were very friendly and gave us information about the best places in town. Although the neighbouring boat is tied to the Excelsior, they use the other end of the boat so it won’t affect your stay in the slightest.
As for directions, the boat was easy to find though it wasn’t exactly where we expected. The boat is moored on a smaller pier near the ferry dock which is located at the end of the main pier off Tasmanstraat.
During our stay we mostly used the tram service, parking our car at the park & ride by the Slotderdijk station. The area surrounding the boat is quiet though it has great access to the main districts via the number 3 line. There is a supermarket ten minutes walk from the boat.
All in all, it was an amazing holiday, hopefully the first of many times we stay on the Excelsior!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Houseboat B032. Tommy was there to greet us and make sure we were oriented to the boat and the surrounding area. The boat is well appointed and the accomodations themselves are spectacular - though I wish there had been more hot water. Very convenient to public transportation. We highly recommend this option.

It was overwhelming | 7 September 2010 Johanna
The boat is beautiful restorated from around 1927. The place is really quiet but you can walk to all sightseeing places and the central station is nearby. You find everything you need on the boat, a clean and big bathroom with shower and tub, a big kitchen with every equipment you can wish for. The boat is really large enough to make a party with 50 people. But you have to be careful with the parking place in front of it, its expensive and you get a ticket even on a friday night.

Das Hausboot ist entzückend! | 14 June 2010

Good choice | 12 June 2010 Susan & Neil
All family members back in the United States were envious of the pictures of the boat. The experience is great. Tommy couldn't have been a better owner and was very helpful. Just be aware that you will have the neighbors walking over the boat to get to their boat tethered to the other side of this one. But it is not a deal-breaker.

HOUSEBOAT B032 | 4 December 2009 ALEX & CLAIRE
We really enjoyed our stay (as last year, and probably next year)
We stay 7 days and we were sad to go back to our little flat in Paris...
This really the best houseboat of Amsterdam: 200m², tv, a big bathroom, a captain room... and a very welcoming and helping owner.
Thanks again Tom, see you in 2010 !!!!!

A trip to remember! | 16 November 2009 Audrey
Loved the Excelsior. My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and we loved the novelty of living on houseboat. All facilities on board were great and we were stunned by the amount of space. It was clean and comfortable and had a homely feel. We had a little bit of trouble finding it as the directions we were sent were not completely accurate, however another houseboat owner pointed us in the right direction. We actually expected the houseboat to be a bit further out of the city than it was - so that was an added bonus..we walked almost everywhere. We would really like to return and stay on the Excelsior again - I definitely recommend it!!

Stay october 2010 | 27 October 2009 Jörg
We spent four nights on the boat and we were very satisfied with what we found.
A short summary:
Plus: very large ship, ideal for two couples or a family as the two bedrooms are VERY far away from each other.
Very nice bathroom with big tub, quite relaxing...
Very good heating-system, no problem in cold weather.
Complete kitchen (no baking oven)
Everything in pretty good state.
Friendly host (whom we did not see, but no problem, of course).
Minus:
The location is not totally central. It is no problem at all to take a bus or a nearby tram to get to the central touristic part. On the other hand it has a special atmosphere to it as it is in some kind of harbour.
As it is not in a gracht the ship moves slightly, so for very sensitive persons it might be a little disturbing if they do not like this movement (most people who go on a ship like it, dont they?)
The last fact to know is that there is a ship moored next to it so there are people walking above the deck to get there.
Afterall, we had an enjoyable stay and would recoment the boat.

Really loved Amsterdam and particularly enjoyed staying on a houseboat - a very unique experience. The owner Tommy, was very helpful and friendly - greeting us on our arrival and showing us around the boat. Excellent facilities, good power shower, loads of hot water - until the last evening when the power failed at 9 pm leaving us with no facilities!

Houseboat B032 | 1 October 2009 Kate
We had a great weekend in Amsterdam, staying on a houseboat added to the charm. The owner was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The boat is spacious, the quiet location is a little out of the centre but we enjoyed the wander down into Joordan. There are plenty of pubs and shops nearby and the transport links are great.
Some things were broken or didn't work properly, the lighting in particular, and the drawers and cupboards need a good clean but the boat has character and was a great place to relax with friends before heading back out to explore.

wonderful stay | 16 September 2009 Niels Hammerich - Denmark
We enjoyed a four days stay in a wonderful old houseboat situated a little outside the center of the city in the harbour. It was a beatiful experience, which we can highly recommend. The sound of harbourlife, and waves reached the ears during both days and nights and the view of a modern harbour, outside the beatiful old city center, is a nice addition to seeng the sights. The harbour has its own life and friendly people greets you, as you get familiar with the area.
We will look forward to return

A DIIFERENT EXPERIENCE | 4 July 2009 BLANCA AND FAMILY
THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAD BEEN LODGED ON A BOAT AND WE FOUND IT SO MUCH FUN. THE PLACE WAS REALLY COSY AND WE ALL ENJOYED THE FACT THAT THERE WAS SO MUCH ROOM AROUND. IT WAS LIKE GOING BACK TO THE SIXTIES AND FROM THE YOUNGEST ONE IN THE GROUP TO THE SENIOR ONES (IN THEIR EIGHTIES) FELT AT HOME THERE. IT WAS PERFECTLY EQUIPPED, ALL THE FACILITIES WERE SUPERB AND EVEN THE DECORATION WAS TO OUR LIKING.LOOKED LIKE AN ANCIENT GALLEON.

Fantastic! | 3 July 2009 John Cater
Not sure I should say this as the boat will get plenty of bookings and limit the availibilty for my next booking. But...the boat is truly amazing. Very spacious and location is serene and quiet. To save the cab fare to the station. One can get a ferry (two ferries) but that makes the journey even nicer. Really does.
I missed my flight on the way out and phoned the owner to apologise etc and he was fantastic about it and even put beer in the fridge for my (late)arrival.
Highly recommended and I will certainly rent again.

A very special boat | 7 June 2009 Karin + Peter
First of all I clearly want to make sure that we really enjoyed our stay on the boat. Yet we want to post some informations so that none can be blamed of disappointed expectations.
The boat truely is large and spacious but it has seen better days. Friends of a slightly shabby chic will love it tough. The kitchen is well equipped, the bath is astonishingly large and the bedroom gigantic. Everything was very clean, but please bring your own towels: we had do make it with three towels for a whole week. Also the near Albert-Hejn-supermarket saved us from some embarassing moments, as we realised, that we had run out of toilet paper the first day we arrived. But as we had to go there anyway to stock up on food and drinks it was no big thing. Only concerning our privacy we were slightly unhappy: There's a houseboat tied next to the "Excelsior" so that there were constantly people trampling over our boat to get there - a nice thing to waken up at 3.30 a-m- on weekends! Furthermore the owner had the boat renovated, so that the workers constantly occupied one side of the "Excelsior" to work from there, or have their coffeebreaks. Their main hang-out-place was next to the roof-window of the bathroom. Washing, showers or even a bath could only be taken very early in the morning or very late in the evening - alsways hoping, that the kids and their dogs would not hang out next to the window as well. Although the rest of our stay was nice, this really is a disadvantage.
But if you are aware of this and can live with it, you will have an unforgettable stay.

Very nice and hughe boat.
15 min walking distance to Jordaans.
We enjoyed it very much.
The only bad thing is: if you are by car, it costs you 27€ a day to park on the pier. And all in coins please!!! The machine doesn´t take notes.

B32 absolute recommendable | 9 April 2009 Uwe Förster email: uwe (at) lisanah (dot) de
This houseboat is a perfect choice for a temporary domicile. I've been there for a longer
weekend with 3 friends and they also have been completely enthused. The ship is
very big and there is a lot of place for 4 people. It is an optimal place for relaxing after
a long day of discovering the city.
The boat has exceed all our expectations and I will recommend it to everybody who will plan a journey to Amsterdam.
Although the city centre is about 4 Km away from the boat we missed nothing in the vicinity of the boat. The next supermarket is 10 minutes away. Travellling into the town is no problem by taking public transportations like bus and tram.
This boat will be my/our first choice when visiting amsterdam with friends next time.

Great Houseboat! | 2 March 2009 Wes Raine email: wes (dot) raine (at) gmail (dot) com
The Excelsior was a fantastic houseboat and perfect for four people to have a unique experience in Amsterdam. The boat was very roomy and had most of the amenities that we could have have wanted including a full kitchen and all the appliances and a full bathroom with a large bathtub. There was no Internet which would have been nice to research locations of attractions in the city. It was also a bit of a walk to the city center, but it was conveniently located next to a free ferry stop which, with a ferry transfer, got us to the central station in about twenty minutes. We would definitely stay on this boat again on another trip to Amsterdam!

Thumbs Up for excellent Houseboat Excelsior | 9 November 2008 Nina Stastný email: ninastastny (at) fibrig (dot) net
I have spent 4 nights and 5 days on this beautiful boat with 3 girlfriends in November 2008 and it was really wonderful. This houseboat is equiped with every possible feature needed for a comfortable stay to feel like home or even better. It is spacious, cozy and very relaxing. The owner is very nice and friendly. We did not miss a thing, except a toaster if there should one thing be mentioned. I strongly recommend this boat. The view at the sea is also beautiful and necessary grocery store is just within a short walk distance. And within a 15 minutes walk you reach the charming Jordaan quarter with lots of nice little cafés and extravagant shops. It's great and a pleasure to stay on this boat. We enjoyed it!

We would come again... | 19 August 2008
The houseboat is located a bit outside from the centre on a quiet pier. The view round the dock is very nice. It can be reached easily via tram or bus from the central station. To the town centre it's a walk of about 20 minutes and there are a lot of nice canals along the way. Nearby (10 minutes to walk) is a supermarket which is open Monday to Saturday until 10 p.m. The boat offers everything you'd expect. A fully functional kitchen including microwave, large refrigerator and a dishwasher (although it didn't work when we were there ;-), but I think it should be repared by now. The boat has two sleeping rooms. A very large one and one in a cosy little cabin. Besides, there is a very large living room and various places with big pillows where you can relax. We didn't use the TV/DVD system, however, it's there ;-) The bath is large with a bath tub and a shower. The toilet system needs getting used to. You have to be economical with the toilet paper and it takes quiet a long time until the water tank is filled up. But normally this should be no problem. The furnishing of the boat is stylish and cosy with all the wooden panels around. We can recommend staying on this houseboat while being on vacation in Amsterdam.

We were very pleased with the boat - it is in a good location and the inside is very large - there were just two of us but it certainly wouldn't be crowded with 4 or more. You might like to be aware that there is another boat moored alongside - and their access is across this boat. There needs to be a light in the wardrobe- or you can't find your clothes! And I was concerned to hear that the boat is supplied by a water tank and not the mains. That said it is easy to find from the station and walkable with a backpack - when venturing out and about we chose to walk to the station and get trams from there. Watching the sun go down in the company of coot chicks and a cormorant was just fab!

We were 4 adults between 25-40 and spent 4 great days on this very charming houseboat, which offers much space and familiar convenience.
The location and view are quite nice, a little bit aside from the troubled citycenter but only about 10 minutes to walk to the tourist areas, so you can enjoy the night after a busy day in a quiet place. Above all, everything was fine, there was nothing to complain.
Special thanks to tommy keeris, our host was very friendly, helpful and uncomplicated...so, we decided to return for sure and we are looking forward to our next stay on the "excelsior- amsterdam"!!!

this is a nice boat, very big, clean and comfortable. is not in the middle of the city but the distance is acceptable. a 10 min walk to the bus station and another 7-8 more in the bus (3 stops) and you'll get to central station. from my point of view it's ok for a week or so but not longer because you'll walk like popeye...:))

Huge and interesting | 6 May 2008 Adomas
Had a nice stay. The boat is really huge - sometimes we were too lazy to go from one end to another:) Some things are a bit dated - but this quite often happens in five star hotels as well. Everything works, all amenities function well. The place is quiet, which was very nice for us as we were visiting Amsterdam on mad celebrations of Queen's day. One of the main shopping streets is within ten minutes walk. And Tommy is a nice landlord. Generally - I would recommend this boat to a traveler who wants more Dutch authenticity than hotels have to offer.

A friend and i stayed on this boat in October and it was an all round pleasurable time for us. Tommy is a top guy and a pleasure to meet. If you want a hotel then go to one-this is a boat and as such has its quirks but generally we had a great time. Very friendly pub across the road from the pier and the housekeeper couldn't have been nicer. Very nice neighbours too. You can borrow milk without being thought insane of being beaten up so a huge difference from some places.
Thanks Tommy for all the Guinness!!

Great stay in Amsterdam | 22 April 2008 Dan Graves email: dangraves (at) dangraves (dot) com
We stayed on BO32 the first week of April, 2008. The boat was a great suprise. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable, with a great kitchen and heating system. The location is nice - very peaceful and quiet. It's a bit of an expetition to get to town center, but the bus and the Tram are both close by. I was traveling with my adult Goddaughter, so another bathroom would be nice, but the one bathroom is very large and well-appointed. Do your homework. If you're looking for a unique place to stay that's quiet and reasonably priced, this is the place for you.

Wonderful holiday | 19 February 2008 McCarthy & Smith, Ireland
Stayed on Houseboat B032 in February 2008. Beautiful boat, spotlessly clean and wonderful heating system as the weather was really cold. a little bit from the center but the number 48 bus will take you to center in a few minutes and the stop is to your right at the end of the pier (2 minutes walk from the boat). Big supermarket less than 5 minutes walk from the boat, and the is a lovely pub / bistro at the end of the pier. Boat is very big, and kitchen well equipped / gas hob / microwave / big fridge freezer and dishwasher, only thing missing was a toaster. overall it was a wonderful experience and would definately stay on the boat again if we were visiting Amsterdam.

Really nice ship | 10 January 2008 Stefanie Gattinger email: stefanie (dot) gattinger (at) gmx (dot) at
We (4 persons, between 19 and 23 years old) stayed on this boat for 3 nights from 2nd to 5th of January 2008.
The boat was a little bit hard to find, because the red star on the given map on this site here is wrongly placed. The boat is located 1cm upper from the red star, namely on the end of this street which goes to the ferry.
When we arrived punctually at 3pm nobody was there to see us. The key was at the door, but we didn't want to enter without being received by anyone. So we called the owner of the boat on his mobilephone and he told us that we can go inside and that he'll arrive soon. About 20 minutes later he was there and showed us the boat very friendly.
The boat is large, much room to enjoy the stay. The wood inside looks gorgeous and gives a nice flair.
IF ANYBODY WANTS TO SEE PICTURES OF THE BOAT which we took during our stay, please WRITE ME AN EMAIL and I'll send them to you.
Advantages (+):
- nice looking boat
- much room
- fully equipped kitchen
- nice bathroom
- TV, Radio, tourist guides, family games
- large master bed room
- good heating system to be operated from the kitchen room by oneself
Disadvantages (-):
- there were only 2 clean towels available when we arrived
BUT: anyway we got it on the 3rd day of our stay
- we had a complete power/electricity failure on the 2nd day at 11pm which was not repairable by the intern fuse box
BUT: we called the owner and he sent a neighbor to a fuse box outside of the boat to turn power on again - and it worked
- many of the light bulbs were broken, we replaced them by ourself
- there where no plastic bags for the dustbin, we bought them by ourself
- in most of the storage spaces in the boot there was rubbish and stuff
- there is a lot of space inside the boat, but not ideal used:
> the master bedroom is huge, but the second bedroom is undersized
> there is a storage closet full with rubbish and stuff inside the master bedroom
- the 'captains hut', the second bedroom was too cold to sleep in, so 2 of us slept in the living room
- the location of the boat is not very close to the town center - you need to take the bus (about 15 minutes to central station)
- there is only one TV (did not matter for us, but its stated in the details)
- the fitness apparatus was not installed for use
- other people, which want to go to the boat beside the B032 have to walk over this boat; that was not a problem for us, because it is already stated in the description of the boat, but: there are no blinds on the window in the bathroom and everyone who walks over the boat can see directly into the shower!
All in all this boat has a good price-performance ratio!
We enjoyed our stay and would also come again. If you want any further infos please contact me.
We can recommend this boat!

B032 | 14 October 2007 Tim Essebaggers email: Junoid (at) aol (dot) com
The houseboat was fine and Tommy was a good host. Too bad I didn't get to stay the entire 4 days. Situations arose and I had to leave after only 2 nights. It was a pleasant stay albeit shortened.
I would suggest that Tommy redo his directions to the boat as it was confusing once on the pier. He should include that you should go to the end of the pier, to the blue building, go to the right of the building and the houseboat is the 3rd on the right.

Houseboat BO32 | 3 August 2007 Marie Cryan email: mariecryan (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) uk
We stayed in the BO32 in July 07 - The houseboat is very nice, very large, much longer then you think until you arrive there, and it is clean and they have some nice touches i.e fresh flowers and fragranced candles left around the place. The second bedroom is very close to the ceiling - it is down some steps and kind of underneath the back of the boat so we didnt use it because if you sat up with a jolt in the bed you would hit the ceiling. In saying that though, there is another bed in the sitting area and plenty of places you could sleep - the boat would take far more than four people. The only downside of the boat is the location - it is a bit of a walk from town, about 20 mins to the centre, and a lot of the taxi drivers dont seem to know where it is, although really it is only 5 mins in a cab. I would definetly recommend the houseboat and it is a nice change from staying in a hotel, it feels like coming home everytime you go into it, theres a TV and DVD etc.

A great experience | 11 June 2007 Robert D. Luken email: Robert (dot) Luken (at) EU (dot) DoDEA (dot) EDU
The houseboat was extremely clean and was over-all a wonderful experience for my friends and me; however, on Friday afternoon the owner decided to change some of the windows in the boat which proved to be an extremly noisy and disturbing event.
My friend who had just flown in from the United States tried to sleep, but with the pounding and the other work related noise it was nearly impossible. I had been warned by the owner, but I was certainly not prepared for the noise and inconvenience of this experience.
My guests and I could not help but to think that this work could have been done when the boat was not occupied.
Should the owner not consider some type of financial restitution?
P.S. The lady who was cleaning the boat when I arrived on Thursday was extremely helpful and did a fantastic job of making me feel welcome.

Very nice and large boat and a friendly owner. A little bit to far from the citycenter, but with bikes or taxi easily to reach. Comfortable bedrooms, good interieur. The boat is renovated now.
At our visiting time no Internet and a defect CD-Player, and one day workers on the boat....
The neighbour-boat must be entered by crossing the top of B032, so you can hear the neighbours walking over the deck, sometimes early in the morning...
but all together very ok!
Note host: we do not offer internet on the website? The cd-player is already fixed, sorry for that.

EXCELSIOR....Rise!!!!! | 25 August 2006 Jared Coseglia email: jared (at) bannerny (dot) com
Renting the Excelsior was the BEST choice we could have made. It made the entire vacation an amazing and unique experience. The boat owner, Tommy, could not have been nicer and cooler. The actual boat could not have been more accomodating. All around, this is a great way to experience a diferent piece of Amsterdamn. Staying on the boat takes you out of the downtown area which was totally refeshing. RENT THE EXCELSIOR!!! Change your world.... :)

What a boat! | 12 June 2006 Peter email: peter (dot) ringger (at) hispeed (dot) ch
We very much enjoyed our holidays in Amsterdam on board of the excellent EXCELSIOR. This houseboat is so roomy and comfy that you really feel at home from the very first day. No overloading with furniture and gadgets brings out the best of his beautiful wooden structure, not to mention the wonderful coloured glass windows. But what you need its all there: Well equipped kitchen with gas stove, a hightech dishwasher and a gigantic design cooler/freezer. And there's a table big enough for six persons. The living room offers one big couch for sittin and another to lie on and there is also a widescreen tv-set and a multichannel audio receiver.
The sleeping room has its own tv and even a fitness bike. The bed is big and comfortable. The soft and gentle rocking of the boat (very soft, dont bother seasickness..) lets you fall in sweet dreams easely-
To sum it up: Its really worth the deal. Space is luxury an a boat but this has plenty of it, even the bathroom is bigger than some hotel rooms.
Nothing to complain, except some bulbs have to be chanced and the CD player in the kitchen did not work, but who cares... And its a bit more than 10 minutes walk to the next bus station, renting a bike is a good idea.

Review of Houseboat B032 | 26 May 2006 David Bogie email: dbogie (at) acas (dot) org (dot) uk
We spent 4 days on the boat and we all had a great time. There was loads of living space and all the equipment you needed. It is quite far out of the centre but this didn't cause us any problems as there is plenty public transport and the taxis are reasonable. The area the boat is situated in is very quiet and there is a local pub just 5 mins away. We will be back in Amsterdam soon and would rent the boat again.

Houseboat BO32 | 30 March 2006 Perrin Joel Lumbert email: perrinjoel (at) hotmail (dot) com
We stayed in Houseboat BO32 on our recent stay. It was actually larger than we expected and was beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. There were three of us and we had a great deal of space to move about and sleep undisturbed. Tom was very nice and met us right on time at the pier and we found the other residents in nearby houseboats very friendly as well. We enjoyed getting to see a part of the city we normally wouldn't have seen if we'd stayed in the heart of the city. If being in the middle of things is very important to you, this particular boat is just slightly out of the way. But the neighborhood where it is located is quite nice, especially the stretch of Harlemeer from the boat to the Centruum--excellent coffee, chocolate, and restaurants. There are also charming little islands nearby that are well worth seeing. I will be returning to Amsterdam in a year's time for another visit (not enough time!) and would most definately reserve this boat again.

Our stay has been really pleasant and our personal judgement on the chosen accomodation is certainly very positive. The only note regards the cleanliness of the sofa and some little malfunctions of the household appliances.
Thank you

Best Vacation | 4 November 2005 Patricia Ettore email: patricia (dot) ettore (at) us (dot) army (dot) mil
My husband, my son and his fiance just completed a 10-day stay aboard the canal boat, the Excelsior. It was the best vacation any of us have ever had. I'm an amateur photographer and there was a photo-op around every corner in the Jordaan. All of the people in the canal boat community were very friendly and helpful. The boat itself was absolutely beautiful, clean and spacious and the owners Rex and Tommy Keeris were wonderful landlords. We've told all our friends about it back here in Kuwait and plan to take another trip back possibly in the spring. Anytime we come back to Amsterdam you can bet we'll contact you first to find out what's available. All the information your website provided was extremely helpful and accurate including the public transporation information. However for those times when you just can't carry all your purchases we found that Saarki Culhaci from www.Taxi2Trust.nl (06-41 68 22 20) is the best Taxi Driver in town and by now he knows how to get back and forth to the Excelsior by heart.

Nice stay | 28 July 2005 Korryn Kentopp email: korryn (at) gmail (dot) com
Spent a great week on the houseboat, with the notable exception of the night where the bathroom pumping system went on the blink. We spent that night at a hotel, but things were back to normal the next day.

Feedback on on Excelsior hoiuseboat 032 | 18 July 2005 Richard Cradock email: cradock (at) blueyonder (dot) co (dot) uk
Thanks for the opportuity to give you some feedback on our stay on Excelsior.
We realy liked to boat and the accomodation. The space inside was amazing. However we didn't like where it was moored. This was mainly because it was too far from the centre of the city where we had expected to be. I don't think your advert made this clear at all and we only got details of the location after we had booked. I think it would be more honest to give a location map up front.
We experienced some heavy rain during our stay and the deck leaked into the stern cabin onto the bed. Although our host supplied some dry sheets he did not seem to be too concerned. After having paid 1000 euros for accommodation I don't expect the roof to leak. As a consequence two of our party had to make use of the couch in the living room which was less confortable and inconvenienced us all.
Finally although we liked the boat, we did think that it could have been much cleaner. Forthe price we would ahve expected it to be spotlessly clean and unfortunately it wasn't.
I hope you find this feedback useful
regards
Richard Cradock

Wonderful Holiday | 5 June 2005 Mike David email: mikesdavid (at) hotmail (dot) com
My wife and I had a wonderful time on this houseboat. We could not believe the size of the interior. The wood is beautiful. It also has all the amenities a person would need. It was a bit chilly for me coming from the middle east but the boat stayed warm all day as a result of the skylights. We enjoyed sitting in the boat and watching the sailboats go by on the river. We were emailed directions and a map of the route. Our host was very kind. Thanks again. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will go back to Amsterdam again.

This houseboat is fabulous | 24 May 2005 Teresa Oakley email: teresa (dot) oakley (at) bt (dot) com
If you want to stay somewhere totally unique, this houseboat certainly fits the bill -I can't recommend it highly enough. Just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Amsterdam it's location is ideal and allows you to retreat to the peace and quiet of the jetty when the hustle and bustle of the city centre becomes too much.
Despite being equipped with all mod cons, it's the size of the boat that is most surprising. We four adults positively rattled around in the space! And the beautiful wooden interior transforms the space into something very special indeed.
Enjoy!

we 4 stayed very well on the houseboat, it was really like the photos published on the website. it's a great experience to live in a boat for few days, like many people in amsterdam do.the atmosphere inside is warm and familiar and you can find all you need. the position of this boat is quite good and 10 minutes by bike from dam. the owner of the boat was on time and kind, just one thing he didn't gave us a receipt of the cash money at arrival but we had no problem.

Great Boat! | 22 March 2005 Jessica email: roygbiv37 (at) hotmail (dot) com
I recently (March 2005) stayed on the Excelsior with two friends and we had a great time. The boat is beautiful, big, and has everything you need. One negative aspect is that the location is pretty far from the center of town. It's a decent walk to get to stores and restaurants. Renting bikes wouldn't be a bad idea. But on the positive side, it's remoteness makes for a nice, quiet, and private atmosphere. I would highly recommened this houseboat; you can book with confidence!

B032 | 8 November 2004 Dr. Pugh email: allandonaldson (at) lineone (dot) net
Hi,
there are a number of comments.
(1) Your site is very good in many respects but why do you not take the rental amount due by credut card.
Also I found some aspects of the reservation process a bit confusing.
(2) B032
The location is ok but directions and details of the location could be better as it took our taxi driver a little while to find the boat.
The owner was very helpful.
The boat is very spacious and good for a family with teenager children.
The kitchen is not very well provided with utensils.
The cofffee maker does not appear to work.
The appliances do not have instructions.
The television/dvd is a good facility to have but it needs to be sorted properly. Again instruction details would be very helpful.
Not so good.
The roof of the boat leaks when it is raining.
The double bed is not good.
There is only one key provided.
The lighting is poor, not very practical and a number of lights did not work properly.
Nothing to do with the owner or his control but the pier shared with other boat users is disgustingly foul with dog mess. If you have children it is inevitable that mess will be brought into the boat on the soles of shoes.

Very good | 14 September 2004 Gary Riches
The boat was lovely, the facilities are very nice, although an oven would have been a big plus. Very comfortable, very spacious.
The owners were helpfull, texting me details of the nearest supermarket when I asked.
Overall it was a lovely short break, and the owners were great.
