Fantastic | 1 December 2011
Greg Peach

My stay on the houseboat was fantastic and completely added to a great Amsterdam experience. Suzanne is very hospitable and the booking agents made it so easy. The boat itself is very comfortable, and spacious with every amenity you could want. The location of the boat on the river is so convenient and close to all attractions, transport and amenities, not to mention a beautiful setting. I would recommend that anyone staying there spend time at 'De Ysbreeker', at the bar across from the boat. Good atmosphere and even better food.

I liked it so much that I have kept the details in case I am fortunate to ever return to Amsterdam, and have given these details to my friends here in South Africa and told them to to make sure that they book this boat when they get to Amsterdam. It is so much better than a hotel, and surprisingly, very reasonably priced. Thank you Suzanne.

Great stay with our kids! | 30 November 2011
Williams Family

My husband and I stayed 3 nights with our 3 kids (7,6 & 3). There is a bunk bed in a room at the front of the boat, a couch in the living room that folds into a twin bed and a master bed at the back of the boat just off the kitchen. Kitchen had a stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and plenty of dishes. We'd stay here again!

Follow directions as listed, but even as seasoned travellers we had to stop for directions. Most everyone knows where the "Icebreaker Cafe" is. The boat sits in the water directly in front of the cafe. A convenient location with a grocery, bakery and restaurants within walking distance.

It´s a great feeling to "own" your houseboat with four good friends. beautiful boat and perfect location. The bar and restaurant (icebreaker) across the boat is perfect for all meals, until ten in the evening, i´ts close at 01. The location is silent and friendly. the boat is warm and cosy, clean and loads of warm water. Very good vibration and the owner is great! Enjoy, it´s an extraordinary experience!
Love from jill, Oslo, Norway.

Fantastic location, quite confortable, a true different experience... although you must be careful with the lower parts of the ceiling. Good facilities to prepare your own meals... A very good experience for kids and adults! Definitly recommended.

review hor houseboat B023 | 16 January 2010

We visited Amsterdam in the beginning of autumn and we spent four unforgetable days in the houseboat. The position is ideal, just a few minutes walk from downtown, in a very quiet area, with a very nice cafe accross the street. We passed many relaxing hours on the terrace of the boat, watching the river traffic, the canal houses and the neighbourhood activity.
The boat is comfortable, well equiped, specially the kitchen, nice styled with great atmosphere.

Five friends from Athens
...looking forward to visit again.

The boat was great! It was in a terrific neighborhood, and was extremely comfortable. So glad we went with the boat option over a normal hotel-much more private and unique. If we ever get back to Amsterdam, we'll definitely be looking up this boat again!

Super einfaches Ein-und Auschecken. Schlüssel gegenüber in Cafe,
dadurch kein Zeitdruck. Boot für 4 Personen perfekt, toll eingerichtet
und sehr sauber. Alles ausreichend vorhanden.
Gesamteindruck deshalb sehr gut.

My four friends and I had a great time on the house-boat. It is a lovely place to stay and very well equiped. We especially liked the outdoor seating area where you can sit and watch the world go by. I would recommend it to anyone.

Another Authentic Amsterdam Experience | 26 August 2009

My family of five had a wonderful stay in this houseboat. While it is on the small side, there was plenty of room for us and the accommodations were really quite comfortable though compact. The website photos are quite accurate and while this is not a fancy houseboat, it was great for our visit. During the day, we were off sightseeing so didn't spend much time on the boat. At night we returned and enjoyed a drink on the deck enjoying the sights and sounds of Amsterdam. I found the majority of the reviews on the website painted a very accurate picture and agree that having the staff at the Cafe right nearby was reassuring and helpful.

Wonderful Stay | 6 August 2009
Jake Dacey

We loved staying on B023 - perfect location on the wide Amstel River with the excellent cafe just across the quiet street. Able to walk or take the trams everywhere.

We had nice summer weather and enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the boat traffic.

Only complaint is that the living and sleeping areas got warm on the warmer days and were not easily ventilated (the sky lights open but not enough to do a good job). Perhaps a fan or two would help.

Thanks a lot also to Ms. Suzanne for the precious advices!!!
We'll absolutly come back to that paradise.

We spend 4 days on the HOUSE BOAT B023 between 10-14 of April and it was so nice.
The weather was excellent 4 days of sun and it was warm. The houseboat was perfect and really beautiful inside and outside, in one word don't hesitate it is an unforgetable WE in this beautiful city.

Lovely, but more boat than house | 9 March 2009
Paul Bevan
email: p_bevan (at) hotmail (dot) com

We spent a long weekend in early March on B023. The spacious accommodation is in the hold of the boat so the outlook is limited - via portholes - although skylights make it very light. The deck area would be great for sitting out in warmer weather.

The kitchen is smart and very well equipped. The very comfortable double bed is almost part of it in an adjacent cubby-hole; there is a separate bedroom with two bunks in the bow. The shower/WC facilities are both very compact but fine. For all these reasons you would not have much privacy if you were sharing with family or friends!

The boat is very well maintained and tastefully decorated; the living room, while big and bright, is quite minimalist and could do with more comfortable sofas and a rug or two! The central heating was very effective.

We were made very welcome by the owner, Suzanne, who runs the Icebreaker Cafe opposite the boat's mooring on the Amstel river. It's a great place to go for a meal or drink. The boat is about 10 minutes walk from the historic canal 'girdle' and well served by both tram (3, 7, 10) and metro.

Fantastic houseboat, lovely surroundings and not far from the centre too. You can have your coffee in the IJsbreker cafe that is facing the boat. I will recommend this one to friends...

Amstel experience | 14 January 2009
Patricia Chu
email: ps-ann-chu (at) Hotmail (dot) com

My family and I enjoyed our stay aboard Houseboat 23.
If you're expecting a floating luxury house, look elsewhere.
This is a boat first, with captain's wheel atop and the cabin below, small circular windows inside the cabin providing minimal view of the Amstel and its surroundings.
Decor is clean and modern though furniture is on the sparse side allowing more room for movement throughout the cabin. A queen bed is tucked away next to the kitchen and under the cabin steps, and an interior door leads to a cozy bedroom with twin and twin/full bunkbeds. Shower compartment is just large enough for oneself and a sink, while the W.C. is just large enough to take two steps in to do one's business.
Our friends stayed on board Houseboat 43 for a totally different experience. Their boat felt like a house with a hallway, large bedrooms, ultra-large bathroom with garden tub, kitchen, bar, and typical living room.
If you're looking to feel at home on a boat, Houseboat 23 makes for a nice option. But if you want a house that floats like boat, better to make a different choice.

Very sympathetic stay in this warm , confortable and quiet boat. Five days with sun , bikes and a very original city , we love it all. Thank you for the wine too.

Vraiment très exotique entre les canards le long de la coque et le rat sur le pont ( ne pas y laisser de gouda, ha ha ha!!!! ) : les enfants aussi ont adoré .

Un grand merci à votre site et aux propriétaires.

I had the pleasure of staying on this housboat,it was very clean and is as good as the pictures show on the internet.
The boat is very well presented and kept too a very high standard. The veiws from the boat was very good and as the weather was hot it was a perfect weekend, sat upon deck drinking a glass or two of wine.

The staff across the road in the bar/restaurant where very friendly and helpfull upon our arrival It was a very good choice and i would certainly book this houseboat again when i go back to amsterdam

The photos of our houseboat looked amazing and we were a bit anxious to see if the real thing met up to our expectations. We needn't have worried!
Getting to the houseboat from the directions we were given was very straightforward and we arrived to receive our keys from a very friendly guy from the cafe opposite.
The houseboat itself was lovely, very modern and clean with everything you would need including coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher, they'd even left us a selection of teas and coffee and a couple bottles of wine which we thought was a nice touch.... the only thing that was missing was a toaster!!!
Our point to the holiday was a girls holiday with years of gossip to catch up on so we spent a lot of our time just chilling in the boat which was very comfortable! For those you looking for a traditional feel to the boat this may not be for you, it was straight out of an ikea catalogue and you would never know you were on a boat if it weren't for the portholes but that was just right for us! The cafe opposite looked absolutely lovely although in the end we didn't get round to using it unfortunately.
I can't think of anything negative to say, everything was clean and modern with a flatscreen tv, dvd player hairdryer and even straighteners!! ( and pretty much anything else you would have in your home!) the only things that weren't there were a toaster and radio ( if you wanted to link up your ipod which we assumed we would do)
The area itself is really nice and we got the feeling that our neighbours lived there permanently (if you're planning a rowdy holiday this is not for you, we were giggling up top one night and were swiftly told asked to keep the noise down!! oops!) but if you're looking for a comfortable chilled out holiday in a modern home form home environment then i can't fault it!! i'd definitely use it again!! :)

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in Amsterdam despite some unpredictable weather!!!

"De Anna" was very clean, warm and cosy and our welcome goodies were much appreciated. We lost count of how many times we bumped our heads, but it just made our stay more fun!!!!

We had 2 ducks visting on the deck who welcomed the endless slices of bread we gave them.

The staff at the cafe were very friendly and always helpful, and would recommend the food too.

It was also nice to meet Suzanne the owner of the boat and her daughter who popped in to say hello.

I would definatley recommend "De Anna" and wouldn't hesitate to return some day in the future.

Worth every penny!!!

We stayed on this houseboat from 2/3/08 - 5/3/08. We had not stayed on one before but we were really impressed. It was warm, spacious and comfortable and very well equiped. It is in a really nice area and within walking distance of many tourist attractions and shopping areas. The cafe accross the road was lovely for breakfast!
We had snow while we were there so it was too cold to sit on deck. We think if the wheel house was cleared it would be possible to sit in there and watch the world go by on the river but be sheltered from the cold a bit. We hope to go back in the future.

The houseboat was lovely, very modern and clean. It had all the facilities you will need should you decide to visit the City.

It is easy to find and only three stops from the Central Station.

There is a very nice cafe opposite which is always busy from breakfast until closing time, mainly with people who work or study at the nearby hospital. The cakes there are great.

Suzanne is very friendly and may see you at some point during your stay.

When I visit again I will be checking the availablity of this boat.

What a fabulous place to stay in Amsterdam! We were very pleasantly surprised by the comfort and spaciousness of this houseboat. Properly sleeps 4, plus potentially 2-4 more on futons. It is well-located, a few blocks from restaurants and good shopping. Quiet at night. Walking distance to everything, plus a Metro stop nearby. The cafe across the street is picturesque, friendly, and delicious. And, importantly, it is extremely clean and newly refurbished. The owner is friendly and helpful. We arrived to fresh flowers and thoughtful appointments, like fresh milk in the 'fridge, wine, coffee and tea. It has a completely modern bathroom and shower, and a full kitchen. Very nice, very comfortable, very clean, and we were very happy. The deck on top would be incredible in the summertime. We hope to be back someday!

An enjoyable stay | 6 November 2007

The houseboat was excellent and just as described. The area was quiet and it was great to sit out on deck watching the boats go by - something you just don't get in a hotel as you feel you're on the water rather than simply by it. The space provided by the seating area and the kitchen made a real difference to the stay although as you might expect for a boat, the bathroom facilities were "cosy". It's the opposite to a hotel - if you want wardrobes, bedroom space and bathroom space, go to a hotel. If you want living space and a kitchen, plus the sense of being so close to the canal, go for the boat. The owners were very friendly and helpful and their cafe opposite the boat does excellent breakfasts. My one suggestion for improving the service was that we sent a couple of email queries and it took a few days for each reply - not a massive problem but when you're trying to get booked a quick reply is helpful. Overall we would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Note staff:
You are right, we apologize. We were on holiday in France and had a real bad internet connection.

Situated about a 20 minute walk from the main station, this houseboat is located on the main Amstel river in a quiet area alongside a busy cafe. All the facilites on board were in excellent condition, with a (very) spacious lounge and a nice 'L' shaped kitchen range.
The resident Moorhen will amuse you - even though it does like to announce its arrival home at 1 a.m.
This was the second time I have stayed on a houseboat in Amsterdam, and this boat was superior to the last, for much the same money.
I am 6 foot tall and the main areas on the boat offered ample room, however, as on most of the traditional boats, headroom in the bedrooms was limited.
Overall, very good and well kept.
Recommended.

My husband and I stayed on this houseboat for 5 nights at the end of Sep 07. We loved it! Being a little out of the centre, yet still within an easy and very enjoyable walk (or quick metro ride), was fantastic. We loved the area with its interesting streets and shops, and expecially the very inviting cafe/restaurant just 10 meters from the boat. Perfect! We weren't quite sure what to expect of the boat as we have never stayed on a house boat before, but for the two of us it was perfect . I'm not sure how ideal it would have been for more of us, you would have to know those you were sharing with very well as privicy would be minimal! The boat had everything we needed, including the luxary of a dishwasher! From the pictures we imagined that the double bed would be in a different room, although it wasn't, this didn't detract from the stay. We would certainly recommend this houseboat, staying a short wander from the the centre in a lovely spacious boat in an enjoyable neighbourhood made for a fantastic and very relaxing holiday.

We stayed as a family of five in June 2007. This houseboat has a good location, with great views on the Amstel river. This location is quiet and peaceful as it is equidistant between two major bridges, and the side street is virtually free of traffic. Two metro stops are each about 500 meters walk; a tramline stop is about 200 meters walk. There is a large grocery store on the way to the Wibautstraat metro stop. The boat is tastefully and thoroughly furnished. Suzanne was very welcoming and willing to help us in many ways if we had needed. Two bottles of wine awaited us. The boat being related to the de Ijsbreker café was very convenient as they were able to contact the host and act on her behalf for an emergency that we had. I would recommend a house boat as an extra interesting facet of a visit to Amsterdam; that it saved us money relative to a hotel was icing on the cake.

This is a great little boat which is placed at such a convenient place on the Amstel River. We were within 2 minutes of two different tram lines. The view from the boat was glorious - barges, other boats, and many rowers went past. The boat was extremely stable so we never felt we were on a large river. The owners' restaurant is across the street, so it's very convenient to get an after-dinner drink to enjoy on the boat. The restaurant is a little pricy, but the appetizers and food were delicious. The boat certainly can sleep 6, but with the shower so small, it was well-suited for the two of us to not have to worry about anyone else's privacy. The kitchen is well appointed with everything we needed (silverware, glasses, plates, etc), although we never actually cooked inside. I would certainly recommend this boat to anyone travelling in Amsterdam!

Stayed on B023 - great boat in a great location; near two tram lines and 5 minutes from metro (2 stops to Amsterdam Centraal).
Boat is moored next to wonderful old cafe.
Facilities are all new; great kitchen, shower, beds. Good heating if you go at a colder time of year. Nice touches such as wine, beer, milk etc when we arrived.
Note that some of the ceilings are very low - but it is a boat after all !
Would not heistate to recommend the boat 'anna' and the very friendly welcome from Suzanna.

Even though "Anna" is not quite as luxurious as the styled-out photos lead you to believe, it is still a delightful and unique accomodation. It's location is perfect.....and having "De Ysbreker" cafe right there was deliciously convenient. All the folks associated with this travel experience...web agents/boat owner/cafe staff....were more than congenial and obliging. The whole experience was truly a "Dutch Treat"!

email: claudia (at) claudiasblog (dot) net

My husband and I spent 8/5/2006-8/13/2006 staying on this houseboat and we totally loved it. The neighborhood was quiet, safe and beautiful. In fact, we could see the Amstel Hotel from the deck of our boat, which is likely the nicest hotel in Amsterdam. This location is also convenient to a Metro train and two tram lines to get quickly into the center of Amsterdam or to the Leidesplein/Museum area. Or it is a short walk (and shorter bike ride) to the main tourist areas.

The bed was big and comfortable, and there is a second bedroom with bunk beds. Full kitchen with all the necessities, and amazingly a washer/dryer combo which really helped us pack less clothes. Also, a nice flat screen TV with a big living room area.

Suzanne, the owner, was welcoming and made special arrangements for us to lock up our tandem bicycle in her hallway across the street. The owner of the boat also owns the cafe across the street, which serves tasty meals and has a lovely terrace to sit and watch the passing bicycle traffic or the river.

The only downsides were: no phone or internet, and there were a few spiders that I had to relocate (it is after all a boat, not a building). I would wholeheartedly recommend this houseboat and hope to return to Amsterdam and stay there again.

An immaculate, well appointed, spacious boat moored on a delightful tree lined stretch of the River Amstel within half an hour's pleasant walking distance of Amsterdam City Centre. A 'big plus' being the lively and friendly De YJsbecker Cafe/Bar opposite which served excellent meals.

A possible addition to the kitchen equipment - a Toaster!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend the location and facilities.

A wonderfull holiday, amazingly relaxing. Lovely spacious boat in a peacefull location the biggest disturbance was the sound of ducks and people locking up bicycles. Easy to reach from Central Station via the Metro (four stops). PLenty of bars and restaraunts within minutes walk and a supermarket round the corner.

The owners Anreas and Suzanne were helpfull and friendly and very close by if needed.

On arrival there was wine and beer in the fridge, just what we needed on the very warm day when we arrived.

The only thing that would have made life better for my ageing eyes would have been a nice bright reading lamp.

We stayed on houseboat B023 for 4 nights in May. Satying on this houseboat was a wonderfully unique way of spending time in Amsterdam. The boat itself was roomy and well furnished. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The deck was a wonderful place to spend an hour or two before the evening, especially after a full day of exploring the city.

The location of this housebaot could not have been better. The area is mainly residential and quite at night. Pubilc transportion was about a ten minute walk away. Sitting right across from the only cafe, which attracted a mainly younger crowd,, we did not feel too isolated. Being able to order food and drinks from the cafe was incredibly convenient. The food was very good!

I would definiately stay here again.

The experience on the houseboat 023 was really great!!
You can enjoy your staying in Amsterdam living for some days on this houseboat perfectly furnished and with a good location.
There is also another good reason for choosing this houseboat: the bar right in front of the boat called "Isbreaker" is a very nice place with good food and lovely people!!

It was a great location with the convenience of the cafe a great addition.

The houseboat was nice with an added treat a very roomy shower (never thought I'd say that about a boat head).

Only disppointment was the high porthole windows which really inhibited the views of the river for shorties like me.

It's a different way to stay in Amsterdam, and it's perfect for families. My kids enjoyed a lot the new experience of living in a house boat. We've got a very bad weather, with rain and strong wind... but inside the Anna we feel save and confortable. We'll be back in spring or summer!

We enjoyed our stay on the "Anna" so much that we are planning a return trip. The vessel is ship shape. It is light, airy, and clean and has a well supplied kitchen area. There is a nice view of the sunset and the Amstel River is ever changing. We visited in mid-September and the weather was quite pleasant. Our stay was relaxing and comfortable. We felt very much at home.

The cafe de Ysbreker, just across the street from "Anna", has a nice patio area and serves simple, tasty food as well as a nice selection of drinks. We enjoyed bringing our food and drinks back to the boat to eat on deck while watching the river traffic float by. We often found it hard to want to leave the area for sightseeing.

The neighborhood where "Anna" is moored is charming. It is quiet, comfortable and within walking distance of several very good restaurants. The Albert Cuyp Market, across the river, is not too far away. You can take the scenic route to the market by walking through Sarphati Park.

We found it very easy to arrange our stay throught the "Houseboat Hotel" website. Marcel and Ilonk were very helpful and responsive to our questions and needs. Andreas and Susanne, the boat's owners were also very accomodating.

We will visit "Anna" again.

The Houseboat we rented was B023 that sits on the Amstel river. The houseboat is owned by a nice family that owns the YsBrekker cafe located directly next to the houseboat. The Boat was fantastic! the Amstel International Hotel was completely lit up at night making for a amazing scene. The location of the houseboat was just three stops on the metro and a short walk (from Central station). The museums were only 3 Kiloneters away and the local neighborhood was very clean and safe. I would recommend this houseboat over and over to anyone with 5 people or less. Our party was three big guys with two over 2 meters tall. The houseboat was fine for us and I would rent this again.

We loved the boat so much we are going back next year. Jan Paul was extremely helpful and informative so where the staff in the cafe IJsbreker, the coffee there is superb and the food lovely we loved coming back at night and sitting on the terrace, we had our own table number so that we could order on account and pay later.

We would suggest that a book or file is left for visitors on the boat so that they could write their comments and recommend places of interest and restaurants they found good in and around amsterdam also which trams to take etc as this sort of information would be helpful to new visitors like ourselves. We recommend the cafe at the boat and also tex mex restaurant in amsterdam called Rosas Cantina.
Dutch people are lovely

The boat was excellent---great location, clean and well designed, very comfortable. The heat went out on one very cold night but the owner had it fixed the next day and sent us champagne to make up for the discomfort, which was very nice. It was a great place to spend Christmas and New Years.

The husband and wife were also very welcoming; I have already recommended it to friends.

Staying on the boat was a great way to experience Amsterdam. The boat was more than big enough for us, we stayed four nights but wished it could have been longer. It has everything you need, a great kitchen with plenty of equipment, shower, a comfortable double bed and a good heating system. We enjoyed going to the local supermarket, which is close by, and being able to cook our own food. The boat has a very good location close to the metro, bus and tram lines and its also within good walking distance from most of the main tourist attractions. We loved Anna and would definately consider a return visit.

Wonderful stay i Amsterdam | 14 May 2005

Hi!
We had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam, only too short! The boat is situated at a very nice and quiet place just outside the center. It is easy to find when you come from the airport with the public transportation system, and it is within a nice walking distance from shops, museums, parks, restaurants etc.

The café "de Ysbrekker" was nice, and we had excellent breakfast in the mornings and cold beers on the terrace at late evenings.

My first wish after a 2-nights stay in late april is to come back to Amsterdam. And it would be a pleasure to on this boat once more.

I can recommend it to everybody!

Kind regards
Marianne

A friendfrom the US, my daughter who lives in Norway and I loved staying on the houseboat Anna. My daughter's fiance was there for 2 days and one night and we had plenty of room. It was in a nice quiet area and convenient to everything. The museum area was within easy walking distance. The trams and metro were withing easy walking distance. Andreas was kind enough to open the pilot house so that we could enjoy the scenery outside when it was raining and windy. We enjoyed watching the bike traffic on the street and the boat traffic on the river. The Ysebreker restaurant across the street, owned by our hosts, was a nice friendly place to dash to for a drink or good food. The kitchen was modern and well supplied. The convenience of having a sitting area and kitchen for quick meals and snacks and the privacy was much better than a hotel room. We bumped our heads a few times before we got used to ducking in the bed areas. The skylights leaked a bit when it was raining and very windy, but no big problem.
I would suggest that a map/schedule of the trams be place in the houseboat.
We would definitely choose to stay on a houseboat again.

Our hosts Andreas and Susanne (who also run the cafe next to the boat) were friendly and efficient. We had a lovely time despite poor weather. It was great to have the excellent café faciity so close to hand, so we didn't need to try the room service! We found that it wasn't necessary to buy a 3 day travel pass, as bike hire worked better. We eventually discovered that the boat is much nearer the centre than it seemed at first.
We tried out the little Greek restaurant a minute's walk from the boat. Apprently some tourists complain about the slow service, but we found that watching the proprietor prepare all the food freshly was well worth the wait.
All in all, highly recommended - but not for very tall people!

Staying on the "ANNA" was one of the best parts of our recent Amsterdam visit. Of course the boat was clean and the accomodations were satisfactory ... but it was more than just that. Quickly we felt we were "at home." Each evening when we returned from our busy tourist activities the three of us sat in the living room with cups of hot tea extolling this wonderful place to stay.

Staying on a houseboat was a different experience for all 4 of us ( 2 couples in our 20's) and we would recommend it, The boat was clean with excellent facilities including a good stereo/dvd player & flat screen TV.
We had to toss up for who got the double bed ( which is situated adjacent to the kitchen in the main body of the boat - not in a seperate room ) the bunk bed is in a seperate room at the bow.
The heating system is excellent and considering it was snowing outside we didnt feel the cold atall.
Our hosts were welcoming and keen to assist with any questions on popular sightseeing spots etc.

We enjoyed the walk down the Amstel into town and the peaceful area the boat is in .

Hope this was helpful!!

We enjoy a lot our stay at B023 Boat, the one called Anna. It is placet in a really nice area, in front of a fantastic cafe, very near from the town centre.

The boat is very comfortable, you can find inside everything you could need for your holidays. Really, every thing was better than we expected.

A wonderful vacation on the Amstel aboard Houseboat B023 | 4 October 2004
Bill Franki
email: bill (dot) franki (at) kenda (dot) com

Greetings to any potential Houseboat Hotel guests!

This was my family's second stay on a Houseboat in Amsterdam. We were on B023 for four days in late September. I recommend this boat very highly indeed!

Our hosts, Andreas and Susana Wolff, were wonderful and had the boat ready to go when we arrived. The check in was very easy to coordinate because they also own and operate the wonderful cafe "de IJsbreker" and B023 is moored right in front of it! You can eat a nice meal there throughout the day and lounge on the large patio with a magnificent view of the Amstel in one of the nicest areas in town. Very nice, very convenient.

The boat itself was in very nice condition and quite clean. Inside, it is smartly arranged, and well put together with many amenities. Living aboard B023 was a bit close for our party of 5 adults, but for groups used to traveling together it shouldn't be any problem at all. There is an aft area with a double bed, and a forward room with two bunks. There are also two nice couches in the living area that pull out slightly for sleeping (actually, if you wanted to sleep six, you could).

In my opinion, everyone that visits Amsterdam should stay on a Houseboat. Simply put, there’s nothing quite like it.

I’d happy to reply to an email with questions about our Amsterdam experiences, or about the boat itself.

We spent one week on BO23 and it was a great choice for comfort and location. We were conveniently located across the street from the Ysbreker bar/resturant. We ended up staying in our boat for a number of days and was very comfortable with all the amenities. We had a fully stocked kitchen, heat, hot showers, and TV with a DVD player and stereo. We would definately return for an aniversery.

Fantastic boat, top location, super host.....can not wait to return ourselves and whilst we would rather keep it our little secret...it's only fair to recommend this super experience to all.

The accomodation is more than adequate for 5 people with all mod cons including fully fitted kitchen, hi fi system and tv.

The restaurant located opposite the boat which incidentally is also owned by the boats host is friendly and offers some great food.

I highly recommend this boat. It is modern, well equipped and is moored opposite a very relaxed cafe - which was great for getting beers to sit on the deck and enjoy.

Would love to spend a few weeks on the boat relaxing with my husband, riding bikes and taking it easy.

Boat was clean, spacious, and we loved arriving to our little wine and cheese hamper.

Our family of five (four adults, one infant) recently visited Amsterdam for a long weekend (in April 2004). We stayed on houseboat B023, arranged through 'Houseboat & Apartment Hotel Amsterdam'. The houseboat itself was super, with good space, a high standard of furnishings, and a great location on the Amstel River. It is located conveniently for public transportation, and is across the street from a terrific cafe/restaurant, the Ysbreker - good food, good coffee, great beer, wonderful staff).

If you want to relax on a visit to Amsterdam, and see the city in a new way, do try a houseboat - we loved it.

We had a fantastic time and the boat was great fun if a little crowded for 5 adults, perhaps next time we would only have 3 of us in it. The area was very nice and quiet yet so very easy to get into the central area using tram or metro. We found it best to eat and drink in the local area of the boat as it was around half the price of going to Dam square and most of the times it was of better quality.

All in all a good break

This year for vacation we thought we'd try something unique, after all a hotel is a hotel in every country, so why not a houseboat. We had no expectations but we were in for a treat. This houseboat was in a great location, just a ten minute walk from most everything and had a Metro/Tram stop within a few minutes. It was very spacious and comfortable. We will recommend this houseboat to friends and would visit it again anytime.

The boat was great. Although the weather was horrible, we really had a good weekend in Amsterdam. I have been to Amsterdam ten more times, but this was the first time I did not choose a hotel. If I can, I would like to rent this boat, or any other one, once more.
Thank you very much again.
