review about my stay | 6 January 2012 Sebastian Werner
Sebastian Werner

Appreciation B038 | 29 December 2011 Rob Grommee
Staying dec 22-26 2011.
Chosen accomodation perfectly corresponding with description.
Typical old Dutch Craft, still in operating conditions.
All clean, ready and functioning.
Perfect and quiet location, yet in the heart of the town. Wonderful historical area close to Brouwersgracht.
Owner's reception on board efficient, helpful and easy-going.
We enjoyed our stay.
Hope owner also satisfied with our visit.

A fun experience in a wonderful area of Amsterdam. | 25 October 2011 Anita Logan
Hi Jeroen
Thanks for a fun 4 night stay at the end of September 2011 on your house boat. It was a great experience - cosy but very comfortable for the 5 of us. Our three kids, aged 15, 12 and 8, loved it. The area is great - being so close to the Jordaan district was fantastic. We found some very good restaurants in the area and the kids were happy to stay on the house boat for a couple of hours by themselves after dinner, while my husband and I had an evening drink at one of the very many nearby bars and soaked up the relaxed atmosphere in Amsterdam. Oh, and thanks too for arranging the wonderful Indian summer weather we had during our stay!

Our Stay in house-boat B038 | 21 October 2011 Karen Wallis-Smith
The perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. Look no further! Jeroen has a beautiful boat in an amazing location in Amsterdam.
We used to live in the Jordaan and took our children to show them where they were born. We really felt part of the city and it was as if we lived there again. The boat was equipped with everything you could need and was cosy and extremely charming.
The boat was a surprise for the children upon arrival and they were totally speechless when they saw it and SO excited. We had Dutch friends over for tea and they loved it too. If you want true Dutch character and a truly unique stay - this is it.

Had a blast! | 18 September 2011 Adam
The Adriana is a WONDERFUL option to stay in Amsterdam. Three friends and I spent my birthday on the barge in 2008. I am going back this year and the boat is booked and we were so bummed! It was such fun and very authentic. The deck is big and has classic canal views. You can here the bells of the West Church ring throughout the day and the sun rise is perfect. I would absolutely recommend it.

A nice place to stay in Amsterdam | 11 September 2011 Julian Reitz
We had a good time on the boat. The location is great: Keizersgracht - in the middle of the city.
The boat is equipped with everything one needs for having a comfortable stay: oven, refrigerator, cookware, crockery, sink, toilet, shower, cold and hot water, radio, TV...
The very friendly owner of the boat came and explained us how to handle the equipment.
The interior of the boat has a nice design.
With kind regards
Julian Reitz

Inacceptable!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Jeroen's boat. He was a helpful and welcoming host - providing everything we needed (tea, coffee, beer, wine, shower gel, plenty of toilet paper and towels...); and making sure that we were happy with how everything worked. The boat lived up to its' description and was in a lovely location. I would just warn anyone over 6 foot that the sleeping areas could prove tricky, if you forget to duck! We are a family of 5 with 2 of our 3 children in their teens. Jeroen had provided an extra air bed to supplement the two doubles and the bed-settee. We did make use of this so that our eldest could have a cabin to herself. This worked well. We would thoroughly recommend this as a perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on deck in the evenings, soaking up the atmosphere.

Romantisches Hausboot an bester Lage | 27 July 2011 Thomas Dillier
Sympathischer Eigner.

To experience the 'real' Amsterdam | 11 July 2011 Tommy Graham
This was our 2nd stay on this houseboat so obviously we like it. The owner Jereon provides a very good service. When I ran out of gas (in the middle of cooking a meal for a lot of people!) he arrived with a new bottle within an hour. Everything was clean & in order. My only quibble is that it is a little on the expensive side (nearly €1500 for 5 of us over 6 nights) but maybe that's because we're from Ireland where the economy isn't so good right now. Definitely to be recommended.

A great house-boat | 7 July 2011 Melissa Rose
Our stay on this house-boat was perfect. There were just the two of us but it would be very comfortable for four. It was spacious, clean and fairly well stocked. We only ate breakfast there and did not cook any other meals, although it is furnished with everything needed to do so. The bathroom was newly redone and we never lacked for a nice hot shower. The location is wonderful and we walked to all areas of the city. The owner, who was very gracious, met us and recommended places to eat and things to do. We highly recommend staying on this house-boat when visiting Amsterdam.

Fantastic experience! My 4 children (ages 17-25) and I all agreed that the houseboat made our stay in Amsterdam even more special. Plenty of room for all. Well stocked. Clean. Fantastic location. Our host was very helpful and personable. We could have used a few more towels but other than that everything was great. Thanks Jeroen!

Best way to stay in Amsterdam | 12 May 2011 Mark Denny
This was my fifth visit to Amsterdam and I absolutely love this town. Previous stays were in four and five star hotels. While the accomodations were great they felt a little stuffy so I wanted to try something different. I also wanted to have a refridgerator in the room so I could store fruit and beverages making it easeir to get out in the mornings without having to go to a restaurant for breakfast. I was lucky to find the Houseboat + Apartment Hotel site and was very impressed with the houseboat options. But I was also very nervous about making a reservation in a old house boat site unseen. No, I take that back; the photos gave a very accurate impression and I was really more worried about mildew or mold smells. So I was pleased to find very clean, fresh, tidy accomodations. The beds are very comfortable for tall people, the kitchen fully stocked, bright airy bathroom and shower and lovely interior finishes. The location is excellant and easy to find within walking distance from Central Station and Dam Square, tram stops and outdoor markets. Sleeping is great as this is a very quite neighborhood and traffic on the canal only gently rocks the houseboat. Sitting on the deck to enjoy morning coffee and evening cocktails was wonderful and waiving to passing boat traffic was fun as everyone in Amsterdam is so friendly. Shopping in the open markets to buy food for dinner made me feel like a native and the options so abundant I didn't want to take a chance and be disappointed dining in restaurants so many of the meals were on board. It was nice to have the luxury of coming and going as you please anytime of the day or night and not walk through a hotel lobby and wait for elevators and deal with hotel staff. I can make my own bed and wipe up the bathroom sink so I don't really value hotel maid service. It's nice but isn't neccesary for me as I would much rather have privacy and kitchen accomocations. Our host Jeron made us feel very welcome and keeps his property in excellant shape. I could not have enjoyed this trip any better than I did and I will always stay in a houseboat in the future. It felt so real and authentic I can't wait to go back. Finally, the I Amsterdam card for sale at the tourist informations shops is highly recommended. You can visit about fifty museums for free and also includes free public transit. Amsterdam has many interesting museums and historical sites so the I Amsterdam card saves money and provides many options for cultural enrichment. If you want a genuine authentic Amsterdam experience and don't need someone to make your bed everyday, Jeron's houseboat on the Keizersgracht canal will be a remarkable visit you will always remember.

Great boat, great location | 22 April 2011 Rosemary and Mick Nolan
Our family of 2 adults and three children (2 teenagers) had a wonderful few days on this authentic houseboat. The boat was beautifully presented and very comfortable. All fixtures and appliances worked well. The owner was very friendly and helpful and had made sure the atmosphere of the boat was warm and inviting when we arrived and that there was enough bedding to accomodate us all. The location was perfect, and the boat's deck was a great place to relax and watch the world go by after a day exploring the streets of Amsterdam. We loved every minute of our stay here.

We had such a great time in the houseboat that it is hard to remember our gripes, to tell the truth. It is beautifully located in a fabulous city and is extremely gemutlich. That said, the bathroom caused us some angst. The hot water system wasn't great and the toilet takes a bit of getting used to!!! That said, we coped and were very sorry to leave.
Cheers and thanks,

had a great stay aboard this very authentic barge. it was beautifully warm which i did'nt anticipate and in an excellent location, a quiet residential area with a lovely bakery a stones throw away.
the only negative comment i would make is that the exterior looked nothing like the photo on the website and that maybe it should be updated for greater accuracy.
Note Staff: we understand that the colour is different now, but the photo's are from the barge.

Late December 2009 | 4 January 2010 Family of 3 from the U.S.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the houseboat during our visit to Amsterdam over the Christmas holidays. Great location in the Jordaan district with easy access to most of central Amsterdam. We were pleasantly surprised by how cozy and warm the houseboat was, even when it was cold and snowing outside. This was our first stay on a houseboat and we will definitely do it again next time we visit Amsterdam.

Our lovely little amsterdam boat! | 7 December 2009 Jess Doughty - Northants, UK
Hi Jereon,
It has been a while since we visited but I just wanted to tell everyone what a great time we had while we stayed on the boat.
It was my 30th & my friends 21st and we had a brilliant time on board. The little things count in life, so we really appreciated the beers, wine, flowers left for us : ) really nice touch..
Was so relaxing to chill on the boat after spending time in the party city...much better than being stuck in a hotel.
For three people it is perfect!! We didn't want to leave..
Thanks for having us...hope you are well...

A wonderfull boat | 15 August 2009 Alban Castillon
Arriving at the boat for a five days stay,we were welcomed pleasently, with flowers and fine wine,by the owner wich given us all practical informations. It's an old boat with varnish wood , bow ceilings in the cabin wich create an authentic atmosphere as we could hope. Clean and self-catering equiped, and the beds are comfortables for four persons. At night there is no noise and we took quiet moments on desk watching others boats cruising on the channel. The boat is well located in the Jordaan (old town), near all historicals monuments to visit, by walking. "Merci" to Jeroen.

Houseboat B038 | 13 August 2009 Paul D
We enjoyed our stay in the houseboat B038 tremendously. The living quarters were cute, clean, basic as befits an old and historic boat but quite adequate (headroom was fine for me and I am 6 ft in height, so it was a few inches more than that). There were two alcove bunks which seemed slightly smaller than an American double bed, as well as a fold out couch bed about double bed in size; a gas stove which worked fine for preparing meals, a microwave, a full set of pots and pans, a pot for making coffee; one toilet and an adequate shower; fresh flowers on arrival. The boat is in the heart of the canal system on a stunningly beautiful block, about 10 minutes walk from the train station, could not have a better location. I should say that on one occasion the toilet clogged, requiring us to repeatedly flush it to prevent flooding sewage onto the floor until the host came to fix it, about 40 minutes (the host was very friendly, helpful and responsive, a fine man). This event seems to have been due to a previous tenant putting tampons in the fixture, one hopes this is rare (we had to flush the toilet repeatedly on another occasion but the clog cleared itself). It was a wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to rent this boat again.

A springweek in houseboat B038 | 29 April 2009 Ari Suramo
It was surely an interesting experience! The boat was clean, the manager Jeroen very friendly and helpful, the location suberb (a quiet corner in the center of the city) - and the weather something you won't necessarily expect from Amsterdam in april: warm and sunny almost the whole week! In the beginning we (three middle-aged men from Finland) had some trouble with the toilet flushing, but Jeroen came quickly to give some help and after that everything worked fine. Because the toilet is partly under water-level of the Keizersgracht, you have to pump the water out of the toilet bowl and the shower; but that works automatically by pressing a button. We had all separate beds (two in bedrooms and one in the "living room"). There was a fridge with a six-pack of beer waiting for us, as well as a gas cooker, microwave owen, some coffee, tea, spices and so on - all on the house. Also a nice Tivoli audio-system and tv (which we didn't use). There was of course some traffic in the canal, but that didn't bother us and the boat didn't practically swing at all. The only thing one should be careful about is getting in: there are two ways in and out, but only the one by the canal side can be locked from outside. As there was only a very narrow space between the hatchway and the canal and no railings, you had to be careful for not step aside and fall to the canal... But on the whole: staying in the boat was something to be recommended as a truly local alternative for dull hotels and apartments.

We had a lovely stay on this boat, the owner was very welcoming and the boat was gorgeous, well loved and cared for by the owner.
We had hoped for an authentic trip to Amsterdam staying on an old wooden houseboat and that is exactly what we got.
Very cosey and warm with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.
Excellent location also with some gorgeous shops and restaurants nearby, not to mention the Pancake Bakery which we visited daily!!! Also very easy to get into centre of Amsterdam and onto the canal bus route within minutes walk.
would highly recommend and would love to come back again!

Feedback on recent stay: House-Boat B038 | 12 December 2008 Paul Armstrong email: paul (dot) a (at) ppmprojects (dot) co (dot) za
Boat was very comfortable, well appointed and heated. The owner was very helpful and took trouble to make sure that everything was ok, even to the extent of offering tourist advice/information. The boat is centrally situated and thus it is very easy to access all the regular places of interest on foot, also has grocery stores and restaurants nearby. It took some time to figure out how to get hot water in the shower but overall the boat ranks an 8/10 and I would definately use it again!

We met our host on the boat which is barely a 10 minute walk from central station. The house boat is clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and you can easily sleep 3 people separately. The location is amazing. Very close to the Anne Frank House and the great restaurants of the Jordaan. Dams Square and the Warmoestraat are only a 10 minute walk. The boat is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone!

great accomodations | 11 November 2008 eliza email: epilespellman
The houseboat was lovely, everything we had hoped it would be. We wondered if it would be cold (nov) but a heater in the corner kept us warn. It was a very cozy spot and for anyone who appreciates old boats, the owner has taken great care to preserve all the nice features. We felt like we had gone back to another era.
The only thing i would mention is that to get in the boat , one must be fit since you must climb down a small staircase to enter the cabin.
We had a great time and would stay there again.

We really enjoyed the boat. It was lovely in every way, the situation and its facilities. The owner came really quickly if we needed any help.
Suggestions for improvement are: better cooking equipment, it was hard to make a decent meal without enough pots and pans, utensils and bowls etc, also it would be good to receive some information about the area and up to date events on in Amsterdam for the time that you are visiting.

Lovely boat, with lots of character moored in a great position. We enjoyed our week long stay, the boat was comfortable, and everything we needed seemed to be provided. The fresh flowers and welcome from the owner on arrival was greatly appreciated and we would happily recommend this accommodation.

review of houseboat | 9 July 2008 rosie nevin email: rosienevin (at) aol (dot) com
we really enjoyed our holiday on this boat. It was really very beautifully decorated inside and was extremely clean and well kept. The neighbourhood is very central but was still a lovely quiet residential area. We were able to sit out on deck during the day and it was very comfy below deck at night. We hired out bicycles for the week which added to the overall authentic dutch experience for us.

Houseboat B038 "Adriana" | 21 May 2008 Frank Kracher email: krachernc (at) aol (dot) com
A beautiful boat that's cozy, well-appointed and convenient to the heart of Amsterdam. You must be OK with steep access ladders and low ceilings, because this is a real cargo ship nicely converted for all the comforts of a quiet stay along one of the city's oldest, most scenic canals. "Adriana" is a perfect place for your visit to the Netherlands!

Houseboat B038 review | 17 May 2008 Carrie
This was a great boat in a wonderful, quiet location 10 minutes walk from Dam Square and Central Station. We needed something that would sleep a couple plus two singles, and B038 more than met my expectations and accomodated us perfectly. The owner was helpful and very friendly in our time of need. I would difinitely stay on this boat again.

Jeroen´s Lovely Houseboat | 29 April 2008 Per email: psouc05 (at) student (dot) vxu (dot) se
A boat a few hundred meters from the city center and still in a calm area with lovely wine and cheese shops. It really felt like living in some ones home. neat and tidy with all comodities needed for a more than pleasant stay in central Amsterdam.
I will definetly try to get my hands on that houseboat for any future visit.

We had a lovely stay on Houseboat B038. The boat is warm and cosy and well-equipped- and it is in the most fantastic location, surrounded by small independent shops, cafes and bars. Our host was very helpful and friendly but let us get on with it without interference.

Very nice accommodation even if the ceiling height is a little low at around 6ft. My girlfriend had concerns whether it would be too cold on the boat - particularly as we had snow every day but it was very warm and insulated. Well presented.

Stayed with my two teenagers for three days on this lovely boat. The cosiness was very important, especially because the weather wasn´t very good and therfore we had to stay onboard more time than planned. It is perfectly located and we felt very well looked after. We can very warmly recommand this houseboat!

lovely location | 8 March 2008 Christine Kent email: gigeen (at) yahoo (dot) com
Stayed with my husband end of Feb, a long weekend for our anniversary. The boat was just ideal for our needs. Didn't do any cooking as plenty of places to eat nearby. You can nip to the bakers first thing for lovely cheese and ham croissants for breakfast. The boat is nice and clean and the bed so comfortable with good quality comfy bedding. Bathroom excellent and Jeroen was qick to come and sort out the hot water for us when the exceptional big winds had made the pilot light go out. Was glad I took a hot water bottle though to make the bed even cosier as we had thunderstorms the first night! The flowers and the wine are a nice touch. Once down into the boat I got such a good feeling and knew we were going to love it, I thought it was beautiful. My husband would have liked a deck chair, although not sure enough space. I think that is the only thing I can say which isn't complimentary. Would like to come again in the summer and spend more time sitting on deck.

Great location, has everything you need! | 29 February 2008 Liz Clonan email: lillabeff (at) gmail (dot) com
I stayed here with my boyfriend for five days in February. Had such a brilliant time! Houseboat is in a perfect location, close to everything (Central Station, Dam Square, Ann Frankhuis) but in a really nice and quiet area. Boat has everything you need! Kitchen, great shower and bathroom and the cosiest bed in the world! There is only one bad thing I have to say about it and that is we nearly didn't see Amsterdam because we didn't want to leave the boat!! I would recommend this for anybody; couples, friends, family. Jeroen (the host) is so friendly and explained everything really well. There's a lovely cafe around the corner where you can get breakfast and the most delicious chocolate shop on the other corner. I would love to stay here again the next time I go back to Amsterdam. Thank you Jeroen!!

House boat review | 16 January 2008 Sarah Lisy email: tcechicago (at) aol (dot) com
We had a great time staying on the houseboat. We stayed the 2nd week of January. The location is terrific - quiet canal and very close to great restaurants, just 3 blocks from Anne Frank's house.
The owner was very accomodating. He took our luggage early for us. He had flowers and wine for us as well.
It was a bit like staying in a country cabin but right in the city. Plumbing and fixtures were very modern.

B038 | 18 December 2007 Martin Short email: cannizaro93 (at) googlemail (dot) com
This is a beautifully maintained historic sailing barge in one of the loveliest parts of the city. Her owner has equipped her with everything you could think of to make a stay comfortable - good stereo, TV, wifi, hairdryer, tea, coffee, and so much more. So you have all the needs of home in this lovely, romantic old ship.
The sleeping areas are good with one large private cabin, (the old captain's quarters), and a very cosy double bed partitioned off from the main saloon. The saloon itself is warm and inviting, lined with a lot of varnished wood, and very comfortably furnished. Everything was spotlessly clean. Despite the outside temperature being around zero degrees, the gas fire and electric heating kept the boat as warm as toast and the shower was very good too.
The owner was helpful and kind and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and easy. You can tell too that he really loves his boat - the standard of the conversion is excellent, without losing any of her special character.
For a group of 4 fit adults I would wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful old barge as a really different and enjoyable way to stay in the city. Young children or disabled people might have problems - entrance down a proper ship's ladder, and an authentic deck - ie no guardrails!).
On a final note - she is one of the few barges on the canal with mast - so not only does she look stunning, but you can find her more easily when you're weaving home after a good dinner!!

If an authentic houseboat experience is your desire, then this one is it! Modernized in all the right places, we had a terrific time aboard... facilities are comfortable and perfect for a getaway, or to spend a longer time in Amsterdam. Cool shops, bakeries, and restaurants abound very near by... and the houseboat itself was very quiet!
Quite warm and cosy, a little athleticism is needed as you will have to be able to climb into and out of the boat by its small steep ladders. Once inside, everything is easy!
Our host Jeroen was ever gracious anf helpful! I'll be back!

A Great couple of days | 12 November 2007 Natalie Andrea email: nat (at) sdgc (dot) com (dot) au
My family of 4 stayed on houseboat B038 for 4 nights in late August. It was our first time in Europe and what a wonderful start.
Jeroen met us at the boat and had coffee brewing for us already. He also left us with wine, drinks for the kids, fruit and a little bit more.
It is located in a street with beautiful houses and is a short walk to the train, Anne Frank house and restaurants/cafes everywhere. Of an evening we would relax and sit on deck and watch the river traffic while drinking a glass of wine.
All in all, I would easily stay here again.

My self and two mates satyed on this boat for 4 nights (28th Sept - 1st Oct 07).
We were greeted by the boat owner in a friendly manner, and he showed us how the use certain facilities on the boat, before giving us a complementary drink.
The boat was situated in a nice residential area of the city and is within walking distance of the city centre. (15-20mins).
Overall the boat was very clean, and was equiped with all the essentials to have a pleasant stay. Everything was in working order.
Would I recommend staying here? For the price and the experience, yes.

House-Boat B038 Amsterdam - In a Word -- Fabulous | 22 September 2007 CARTER BROWN email: cbrown (at) mlaglobal (dot) com
Two people who stayed for 6 nights in September. We would highly recommend this boat, city and host. Below are some details
Positives
1. Great part of town; you can walk to everything. Close to food shopping, general shopping, restaurants, the Central Station, bike rentals, cafes etc. Museums are pleasant 25 minute walk. Old City is a 10 minute walk -- but the red light district does not flow into this neighborhood -- we thought this was a plus.
2. Host is engaging helpful Dutchman. Knows restaurants, shops etc. Very knowledgable about canal boats and most other harbor boats.
3. The boat is very clean, well maintained but not fancy. Gorgeous fresh flowers, bottle of wine a a six pack of Heinkein were there to greet us.
4. Bathroom worked well - while small as you'd expect the shower, toliet and sink were all worked well.
5. Wireless internet access works flawlessly
Other Details
1. Weather was very temperate -- in 60's. Boat has heater, fan and many hatches. We did not need any of them. Assume it would be fine in the winter. If it gets hot in Amsterdam -- don't know if it does -- might be warm in the boat.
2. If you are over 6ft, you need to be comfortable ducking -- a few 5 ft passages especially into master bedroom
3. Two small bedrooms, each about the size of double bed; cute, comfortable, but low ceilings i.e. 4ft above top of the bed. We considered them a "plus"
4. Full small kitchen; but we did not cook so we cannot comment on adequacy.
5. Great for two people, no problem for three, would get tight thereafter especially beyond four
6. Ask about great local French restaurant -- starts with a "B" and the local cafe that serves great smoothies a block away!

We were very very happy with our stay in houseboat B038. It was centrally located and easy to find. It is an older boat but very nicely fixed up inside, very comfortable, cozy and tight. A Fabulous Week in Amsterdam | 15 August 2007 Mike Knaisch email: mike_knaisch (at) hotmail (dot) com
We just concluded a fabulous week in Amsterdam, and a big reason for our enjoyment was the chance to stay on Joroen's houseboat. What a different and much more pleasurable place to stay instead of a hotel. The boat is very comfortable, ideally located on a quiet canal, and we experienced Amsterdam in a way most people never get to do.
I would highly recommend this experience to any other traveler, and want to express deep thanks to Joroen for making the time spent on his boat most enjoyable. This is a trip my Son and I will never forget.

We had an excellent long weekend on Adriana. The owner was extremely helpful, and provided us with a free parking space for our car, a real bonus in Amsterdam. The boat is close enough to the centre to be handy for all the main sights, but is in a fairly quiet residential street, so we weren't over-run with lost tourists.
Great value, we'll use this boat again.

This has been one of those rare travel experiences that has exceeded our expectations. The accomodations were better than advertised, clean, well equiped and nicely appointed. The attention we received from our host was excellent, even when we had questions or problems resulting from our own ignorance.
This boat can be one of the best ways to experience Amsterdam in a true nostalgic, most romantic and very comfortable manner.
The location is magnificant in one of the best neighborhoods in Amsterdam, in close (walking) proximity to everything the city has to offer.
We had a wonderful time, felt like true 'locals' while waving at the passing tourboats or visiting the neighborhood stores and restaurants.
We loved it and will treasure the memories from our week on this boat.

We stayed in 2 apartments and Jeroen's houseboat was a great grand finale to our awesome trip. The photos showed a bouquet of tulips and when we arrived in person, Jeroen had put fresh crimson tulips in the living area. The houseboat was completely furnished with every detail looked after. It was in a safe area within walking distance to Centraal Station, Jordaan, and Dam Square. Highly recommended, it looks even better in person. Mahalo!

We had a great time on our House Boat. Our host was very hospitable and helpful whenever we had a question. The location was extremley central for all the "touristy" places and still able to go back and relax when ever needed with out feeling we had to stay "out" until late afternoon like you do when you stay in a hotel. We were able to walk every where; museums, zoo, red light district, etc. Several shopping areas close by for your needs. We would definately rent this boat again! Thanks Jeroen!

Review Houseboat B038 | 17 April 2007 Alex
The boat is in a good location and in excellent condition throughout. If you are tall you will have to duck a bit in some places, but for a barge there is plenty of space, with a double bed, a single and a sofa bed that can sleep 2. There is a little kitchen area with fridge, hob and microwave. The owner was very pleasant and available to help although we didnt need to contact him.
The best thing about the boat though is sitting on the roof when the sun is shining, watching the world chug by.
Would definitely recommend this boat.

As the message title implies, I felt right at home on this boat. It is well appointed, very cozy, extremely stable (doesn't noticably rock when tour boats go by). It's tucked away in a nice quiet part of town, but is just a few blocks walk to the DAM at the center of town. The boats owner is a very gracious man who helped aclimate us to the city. I will definitely choose this boat again.

Houseboat in the Jordaan | 6 December 2006 Angel Merediz email: angelito (at) zeelandnet (dot) nl
I loved it!!!
The boat was walking distance to CS Amsterdam in the beautiful Jordaan neighborhood. Just walking around and seeing the huge picture windows on the homes was enjoyable. The Dutch seem to have this desire to let people see inside their homes. Some of these homes looked like museums with their paintings and sculptures. But, back to the boat...yes, a little bit difficult to get in and out...but that I also found great, that's the way it should be in a boat. I slept on the bed next to the kitchen and slept like a baby. The skylight was no problem in November, I suspect it may be a problem in the Summer. The shower and toilet were a little tricky to work, I didn't seem to have too much luck with the hot water...but again, this wasn't a 5 star hotel it was a boat!! The bakery was 3 doors down, breakfast place across from bakery...I felt like a real Amsterdammer!!!

This houseboat was nothing short of a dream come true for my wife and I. Our only regret - not staying longer. The true charm and beauty of this place is its feel as a real boat. So many houseboats along the canals look like simple trailer on water. Houseboat 038 is a real sailing vessel and felt like one. The quaint and perfect living room with its wonderful red color really enlightened the nice polished-wood of the entire interior. The main bed (not in the old captain deck, the other one) was the essence of comfort and rest. The cute skylight right above the bed awoke us with the warm fuzziness I'd always wanted. With cable, internet, kitchen, and a nice shower, you may not see much of Amsterdam itself!
Thanks Jeroen!

Wonderful! | 31 May 2006 Paul Smith email: iconpart (at) hotmail (dot) com
The boat is truely beautiful and in a suberb location. But first, the negatives: I would not recommend it for anyone with mobility issues, or much over six foot tall, but I think that applies to most working boats. The second bedroom is really a single, not a double.
Note from the staff: there is a couch in the living room which can be turned into a double bed.
For two friends, or a couble and a friend, it is perfect, but two couples would find it tight. Now the positives: Excellent local bars and eateries meant we didn't have to stray too far to have a great time, and the quiet residential streets made for a good nights sleep. Central Amsterdam is less then ten minutes walk away for when then bright lights appeal, but the boat is very well equipped for a quiet night in. One of my most enjoyable holidays.

2 May 2006 James Keane
Dear Marcel,
I & my wife have just returned from a few weeks in Europe. The first
week was spent on your houseboat B-038. I can't tell you how perfect it
was! The boat was cozy & warm in the usual cold & drizzly Amsterdam
weather. The Keizersgracht neighborhood was as quiet as a country house.
We woke every morning to the sounds of the birds, and the bells of the
Westerkerk. It was hard to believe that we were only a few blocks from
the center of a city of 750,000 people. The boat was always a quiet,
warm, retreat from the city bustle. We tried half a dozen of the
restaurants in the neighborhood, & every one was a winner...including
the little breakfast place just around the corner, with a great
breakfast for €3.65!! Joren was the perfect host... he spent an initial
half hour going over all the boat's systems very carefully, left us an
emergency number, (with a prepaid phone card!), and then left us to
discover his marvelous city on our own. He dropped by briefly after 3
days to see if we needed anything & seemed genuinely happy that we were
enjoying our stay in A'dam. The wine, beer, fresh tulips, & snacks he
left on board for our arrival were an added bonus. Everything on the
boat worked perfectly, including the wireless internet....something many
$350.00 per night hotels seem to find impossible. We plan to revisit
A'dam in a few years and I know exactly where we will stay!! Thanks to
you & Jeroen for making our stay such a pleasant one
Jim Keane
