If you have a big group - BOOK THIS BOAT! | 30 March 2011 Mr Boggins
I have to say, I was slightly apprehensive about sharing a boat for 4 nights with 12 guys on a stag do - but it was amazing! The owners were very nice, and the boat was more than comfortable. The beds are understandably narrow, but long enough for a 6'4" bloke. The heating was a bit loud and came on an off randomly in the night, but kept us warm. We partied hard into the early hours every night in the galley, plenty of room for 14+ people, and didn't upset any neighbours. Shower and toilets were all good and the kitchen facilities worked well. Although it was quite expensive, I would book this again for a big group.

Fantastic Trip & Boat! | 19 February 2010 Gemma
Just arrived back from a trip in the dam! A group of 11 of us altogether in our mid 20's, we were really impressed with the boat, its so much better than all being in separate hotel/hotel rooms and the price was very reasonable, we chilled out here in the evenings and cooked up tea and breakfast, the lounge/kitchen area is huge and we all had plenty of room to spread out, the rooms are small but the beds are comfy and have everything you need including a sink in each room. There are 2 showers and 2 toilets (separate) which is great for a large group. Heating worked fab so rooms were very toasty if the doors were left closed. The boat is situated 10-15 mins away from Amsterdam Central Station and a few minute walk to Jordaan area which has some lovely bars and restaurants. We only met one of the owners Olav but he was very friendly and accommodating, we had a late flight and despite check out being at noon he let us stay until our flight left as there were no other guests due on board, he also supplied us with information on where best to go and the best route to walk into town. Would def recommend this accommodation, its something a little different and for those of you who are sea sick, the boat doesnt move at all in fact apart from the decor you had no idea you were actually on the water!

A very nice boat, fitting 10 people very well. Of course it is a boat and not a hotel or apartment, but for that it is very comfortable. All appliances working very well and with very charming, uncomplicated owners.

A fantastic trip & a lovely houseboat | 7 December 2009 NicK Temperley
Staying on the houseboat near the city centre was brilliant fun. It was warm and welcoming inside, within easy walking distance of the city centre and all the main attractions, excellent value for money and of cause, just something a little bit different!
Our hosts were welcoming, attentive and vey helpful, the boat was intimate, and I can't think of a better way for a family or group of friends to stay while seeing the sites of Amsterdam - thouroughly recommended to those looking for a trip thats just a little bit different.

Made our trip | 12 February 2009 Fergus
I stayed on this boat for a weekend in February with a group of 9 lads. I have to say it was much better than any of us expected. Spacious but cosy at the same time. Only a 5 minute walk to the city centre too. The landlord was also very friendly. I can't think of anything negative to say about this boat. It made our trip.

Houseboat B022 | 5 February 2009 Alex Lowe email: thealexlowe (at) gmail (dot) com
If you want something different then this is the place to stay!
We were a group of 7 people and this was perfect, the boat has been refurbished to a very high level, the beds (although 'tight') were v comfortable, and the batheroom facilities more than adequate. The owner was very friendly ans easy going.
As for location you couldn't ask for better... you are about a 10-15 walk from the main station, 5 mins from the nearest supermarket / shops and 5 mins from some of the prettiest canals / buildings and streets in AMsterdam.
Great place for a group of 6-10 for a long weekend.

New Year's Eve in Amsterdam | 5 January 2009 Michel Rodriguez
Period: 28/12/08 - 04/01/09 - People: 7
As described on the website, the chaterboat B022 "Maxima" is very warm and confortable to spend some days in Amsterdam (10 min from Central station, 15 min from the Center)
When we arrived on the boat, we were nicely surprised to find a charming boat, very warm, nice heating system!! (but little bit noisy during the nights).
There was enough room for a group of 7 to 8 people (one person per cabin), but I think for 14 people, it would be a little bit squeezed.
The owners of the boat are very friendly and if you have any problem on the boat (we didn't), owners are not living very far from the boat.
I recommend this accomodation with complete confidence.

Just wants to say thanks for a great weekend on houseboat B022. It was well built and renovated, and perfect if you looking for a social gathering with more than just your lady. Here you have a great messroom with good seatings, a pentry and small but nice cabins. All this in very quiet enviroment, but still just a 10 minutes walk to town center. Perfect!

weekend stay | 4 November 2008 Dace Druva email: dace (dot) druva (at) accenture (dot) com
Hello,
We have booked the charterboat B022 for the corporate event - weekend stay in Amsterdam and it was absolutelly perfect event. There were enough privacy for each and place where to gather together. For the comfortable stay I would recomend one person per cabin as the cabins are small, but the beds were comfortable and 2 toilets, 2 showers, sinks in the cabins provided enough comfort.
Excellent choice for the small group event. The hosts were very kind and welcoming.

BO22 - Number One! | 22 February 2008 Martin J Delargy email: digsy69 (at) hotmail (dot) com
A group of 14 adults stayed on the good ship BO22 for a weekend in February 2008. It was perfect, and so much better than getting 3 or 4 separate hotel rooms. There’s nothing better than relaxing in the spacious lounge area in the morning, watching your best friends slowly emerging from their very private bedrooms, chatting about the previous night’s adventures, grabbing a bacon sandwich and a refreshing orange drink , before heading out into a cold winter’s morning/afternoon in search of interesting places.
The boat itself was brilliant – a massive lounge area, a well-equipped kitchen, 7 private bedrooms, and 2 good showers and toilets. A quote from one of our group says it all: ‘I thought the boat was beautiful, a real labour of love. Well planned, tastefully and finely finished. Very practical with all the facilities 14 friends could ever need. I only wish my house looked as good’.
The hosts too were very cool people who assisted us when we arrived and when we attempted to leave – no small task on a hazy Sunday morning - Big Thanks!
Some previous reviews have mentioned the size of the bedrooms being a problem but for us this was not the case; two members of our group are professional basketball players, but even they slept soundly.
I would recommend this boat to anyone – it really is a great way to stay in Amsterdam, and the price was very reasonable too. We’ll be back…

myself and eleven friends stayed in B022 for Valentines weekend this year to celebrate my birthday. It was excellent. Much better than hotel or hostel as we had a very spacious living space which we could all gather in. much better than hotel lobeys or the like.
boat was very comfortable and had all required mod cons. location was very good, about five mins from central station
The houseboat is a great idea, I definately wont' be staying in a hotel in amsterdam again!

Highly recommended | 17 February 2008 John Wade email: johnwade06 (at) aol (dot) com
Had 4 days in February with 4 adults and 5 children (4 to 11). Had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Owners Olaf and wife very friendly and helpful. Small cabins (but warm and clean) but fantastic main living area.
What could have made it better?
-Directions from Central Station took us on a bit of a detour - not great with 5 tired kids.
-some of the crockery/utensils could do with chucking out - eg no working tin opener
-says on site it's no smoking - but obvious smell of smoke on enetring the boat (confirmed by others comments) - either it is no smoking or it isn't
All in all a great boat, great location - would go again.

AMAZING XXXXX | 7 January 2008 Helen email: helsbel30 (at) hotmail (dot) com
Had a great time 10 of us went the boats living room area is huge so parties every night and although the cabins are smal (expected on a boat) they were so cozy and warm considering we went in december!!-6!! the couple who owned the boat were really friendly and didnt mind us smoking on the boat or noise whilst on the boat although we were considerate to an extent!! its a 15 min walk to the centre but we got bikes which was boss and theres a supermarket near by with cheap ale and spirits! to conclude we'd defo go again such a lovly experience, only one tiny tiny little thing there was two toilets one broken and the other stunk from the min we got there and after 10 people it smelt that bit worse but suppose we were on a boat with a septic tank so ow well!!! dont let that put you off it was extremely good fun, good size for a party and good location, good surroundings fab fab fab. House boat was great | 14 February 2007 Andy email: info (at) andrewmckeown (dot) com
Stayed at this houseboat for 3 nights in February on a stag do, there were eleven of us in there at one point and everyone enjoyed it. Very comfortable and warm. although the bunks are very small they are managable and it is good to have a communal area where everyone can congregate. 10 minutes walk to the start of the centre and bars and cafe's etc. the hosts also allowed us to smoke in the sitting area which was good. Unusual and good!!

A great alternative to an apartment! | 6 February 2007 Neil Stevenson email: nstevenson (at) gmail (dot) com
My friends and I were going on a stag weekend and having an impossible time finding an aprtment big enough to sleep us all (12). Luckily we stumbled across this option, and from now on it will be my first choice.
The boat is extremely centrally located (10-15 mins leisurely walk from Central Station), the bunks though not huge are very comfortable, the living area is very big, the hosts are helpful and laid back, enough hot water to shower an army, you can be as loud as you like in the boat and not disturb anyone, and you don't have to stagger too far for coffee in the morning.
Next trip I'll be looking for a boat like this before I look for an apartment.

First Class! | 8 January 2007 D email: darran (at) xalior (dot) com
Where as most house-boats look and feel like a trainer or static caravan on a raft, this is a boat.
It feels like a boat, proper bunks, portholes, splash-lips and bolted down furniture -- this means it's not ideal for the largest of people, but for anyone under 20stone, you'll do just fine :-) It's pretty, picture perfect pretty, both inside and out -- fantastic TV reception of a wide range of international and local stations, close to a huge supermarket and bakers and bank and a short walk from most of Centraal Amsterdam.
The owners were super people, friendly and polite, and went out of their way to ensure we had both a good time and everything was perfect. And it was.
I could not recommend this boat enough, comfortable beds, clean, well stocked with everything you could need except food :-)
I plan to return, both off season for a stay and on season for a sail!

Houseboat B022 | 30 January 2006 Luke Selby
What a great 4 day stay. initally a litrtle worried about the location,. I quickly found that to be just to the North of the Jordaan is about as perfect as could be for a boat of this size. Water and the cabin temperature was always toastie (even though it was -7 C outside!) and the Kitchen was very well equipped.
Our hosts were very accomodating and the boat was a great place to stay (as long as you dont mind very small cabins) with nice interior and layout.
I will be recommending this boat to any other large groups that might be wanting an interesting base for their time in Amsterdam.

I would highly recommend houseboat BO22 to large groups, we were a stag party (11 guys) and we found the boat very warm and comfortable, even though it was -6°C outside when we arrived. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, Olav has refurbished the boat to a very impressive standard, the showers were excellent as were the kitchen facilities. Including TV and CD/Tape/Radio.
The location of the boat is also very good, really 5-10mins walk from the centre of Amsterdam and Centraal Station, with a supermarket 5 mins walk away, value for money cannot be found better in Amsterdam.

kymcs17@aol.com | 5 February 2005 Kym
Have just returned from staying three nights on Houseboat B022 with 6 friends. The first surprise was how spacious it felt. Once we had all mastered getting onto the boat and navigating the stairs down, it felt surprisingly comfortable. It was warm and cosy - with all the amenities of a small flat....usable kitchen and very comfortable living and dining area - we never felt on top of each other. The bedrooms all had small sinks, very useful with 7 girls sharing!! Again it was a new experience to climb into your bunk bed and could be a little claustrophobic for some, as there is only one small porthole in each room, however none of us found it to be a problem. The real surprise though was the showers - never once did they run cold , they wer always piping hot - lovely in January, also the pressure and shower cubicles were great - very clean.
All in all I and my friends thought it was not only a great new experience for us (we age between 34 and 41) - but consensus was that we would all do it again..although perhaps when it was a little warmer - as it would have been nice to use the outside area.
It was also very convenient to get into Amsterdam, about 6-8 euros.
The only downside was that on the Monday morning (we stayed Fri to Mon) - that two huge pile drivers started in the development adjacent to where the boat was moored at 7AM!!!!!!!! The noise was horrendous and we all had headaches when we eventually left for the airport at 11:30am.
ALL IN ALL - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

excellent houseboat | 25 January 2005 paul atkinson email: gurnformebaby (at) hotmail (dot) com
I am just writing to thank you for a wonderfull stay on your houseboat. We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone. The owners were very friendly and helpfull and you always felt safe and comfortable just in case anything went wrong on the boat as they only live next door. The houseboat was excellent size and the lounge and kitchen area was well equipped for us when we got back from our days or nights in the city, just to be able to come back chill out on comfortable seating watch tv play music, cook some fine cuisine, and just really relax before bed. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers which came in handy at times on a morning especially when you wake up and hear someone in the shower you knew there was always the one next door you could jump in. The cabins are perfect size just to snuggle up and go to sleep in and are all equipped with bedding and towels so you dont need to fetch any of that. Some mornings i was the first up and use to get my cereal and just sit on top deck watching the ducks and seagulls go about there business on the river it was very refreshing and peaceful. The location was excellent the boat is situated just out of town on a dead end of the river so you dont have lots of boats going by making the boat rock. It is about 10 minutes walk from the dam and central station away from all the noise and bussle. There is a supermarket 5 minutes away and shops and resteraunts. I would recommend this boat to anyone from large groups to small groups wishing to make your trip to amsterdam that little bit special. I will definatley be booking to stay on it again this year and many more to come. Many thanks, Paul

I went to this boat with Easter for 4 nights together with 9 friends from Switzerland. We never slept on a boat before, so we were excited about our adventure on the boat. The boat was wonderful and the weekend was marvellous. The railway station was very close (10 minutes on foot). We travelled a lot this weekend, because I wanted to show Holland to my foreigner friends. You have a good connection with the trains from Amsterdam.
In the evening we went out for dinner. It was possible to cook in the boat, but because we were on holiday we didn't feel like that. 10 to 15 minutes walking to the restaurants and 5 minutes to the supermarket. The connection to everything was perfect.
In the boat was some music installation, so no problem to make a party. The owners of the boat are very friendly.
We slept like roses in the small beds. Every couple had his own (small) room, so we had enough privacy if we wanted.
It is really great to go to this place for a weekend, you will never forget it for the rest of your live. It is something special to sleep on a boat in Amsterdam.
Greetings Marjolijn

The boat is very central and you get on foot good into town.
We all enjoied it very much and we will come for sure back in summer!

Enjoyable stay | 14 January 2004 Mari Walker email: mari (dot) walker (at) ntlworld (dot) com
A group of us recently stayed on Houseboat B022, and were all very satisfied. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and helpful. They made a real effort to make sure we were settled and gave us lots of advice on what to do and see in Amsterdam.
The boat itself is great very spacious with a large lounge, well equipped kitchen, comfortable cabins and plenty of hot water for the showers. Obvious care has gone into the boat and we felt at home straight away.
I would recommend staying here without hesitation. It is a little way from the centre but we all enjoyed exploring the area and found our way back without any problems. When our feet got tired from all the sightseeing public transport or taxis were a reasonably priced and convenient option.
