Lovely
by Jaki Irvine

This is really a find! It's slightly further out of the centre than I usually stay, but worth the effort. Everything is spotless and comfortable, with care and thought gone into every detail. The owners are lovely people, friendly and relaxed. I arrived on a very late plane on the first night and they were fine about it...the breakfast was really great. It is peaceful and calm and it was a real treat to sit and watch the river while eating.

to be advised
by pericaud

Very sympathetic people
Everything OK except the weather (it should be perfect if one can have breakfast outside with the ducks)
a bit far from the center but that is probably the reason why the price is lower and it allows to park a car for free.
Very good ratio price / quality

Work versus ducks
by Peter

I stumbled across this house boat B&B while looking for a hotel room near the venue of the conference I was travelling to. It was a serendipitous discovery. The hosts were most charming, and where else can you be distracted from work by a family of ducks going about their business on the canal? I sincerely hope I will be able to stay here again if I return to Amsterdam.

Houseboat BK 59
by Kornel Mucsi

Nice and clean room and bathroom. The owner, who is also living on the boat, was very friendly and provided useful information. Although the room has a window, it is more a skylight because it is in a position that does not allow you to see through it. Location is about 30 min walking to the central station, but there is also a tram and train station not too far.

Houseboat stay
by Kobus Odendaal

Sirs
herewith some inf as requested
Our hosts, especially Thys was very friendly and available and offerred coffee, umbrellas
Our room and bathroom was very nice and neat and clean.overall a nice stay.
BUT
Things u can look at.... maybe in the whole group....and ESPECIALLY for first time travellers...and people that is not demanding but rather keep quiet
1:Standardise a breakfast and dont let visitors ask for it,
we did not have because we thought it had to be paid for extra,we were asked if we wanted and if so our host had to go and shop first........ we declined
2:bikes should be available for daily go around, and some form of shuttle for problem situations at least....we had a situation where our plane left for UK 6am and no transport was available so early to get us to airport in time. But, our host did offer and did take as at an extra cost.
3:internet connection should be available, Everybody has contact necessaties or might have to make travelplan changes and check e-mails
4:"Tours and Ticket" with free city map and "Public Transport Guides" MUST be available...dont let stangers and private travellers try to find their way on their own....its expensive to travel against the Euro if half a day goes lost in finding your way.We travel at a cost of 10:1!
5:Our room had a fridge with cold drinks, but did not know if it was included or had to pay for.and the cost....indicate clearly please
6:If the room is "non smoking", one accepts also that the house is a non smoking area especially for non smokers
Lastly........I know its not your problem but look into it
For a traveller that was 9h on a plane over 8h time zone laps and luggage to carry and a companion,,,,,make sure he has a GPS because it is not a 5min walk the first time, like your brochure indicates
Hope above info helps to create a even better expierience.

We will return for sure
by Ellen Schütte

Only three hours from Köln, Germany, ideal for a weekend or more. The owners are very friendly and caring people, making a very good coffee. The accomodation is great, the room very nice, the bed fantastic and the bathroom big, clean with tub and shower, everything is made with love to the detail and fantasie.
The breakfast ist more then recommendable, where every did you get fresh juice, coffee, different teas, three or four different sorts of bread, chocolade-breadspread, cheese, an egg, cold meat and so on as much as you can eat, while ducks are swimming along, the sun is shining on your back, birds are all around, a heron is catchig fish from the neighbourboat and all this just in front of some hightower skyscrapers.
We absolutely recommend the place to everybody who wants a quiet and peaceful stay with awful nice people.

Our stay in Amsterdam on Houseboat BK59
by Linda and Bill Gandy

We were able to visit Amsterdam this April 2010. We wanted something different and special and chose to stay in a houseboat rather than a hotel. There are few places that you can do that! Our stay was very nice and our hosts could not be more friendly and helpful. They told us about some of the nicer things to do and how to get there easily. They also provide many little books about Amsterdam in the room (we borrowed two for the days we were exploring) they were very helpful too. The room was very nice and clean with a private bath including tub and shower. The bed was very comfortable and we even found that there's many channels on the tv in English. They have snacks available just outside the room and a bottle of wine as well! There's also a small fridge to keep your beverages and snacks in. We had a choice of breakfast on the boat or to have breakfast elsewhere. We had breakfast one morning looking out over the water, the service was wonderful and relaxing. The boat is walking distance to the train station just over the bridge and the boat within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and parks. We found it easy to get around Amsterdam sites without a car from the boat. Just look out for the bikes! We found the boat and the hosts wonderful and would love to stay there again. They even allowed us to book less than four nights (we stayed 3) and we felt very blessed as some of the boats wouldn't allow that and it's all we had! Thank you Theis and Maria for a wonderful stay and a great experience in Amsterdam! Blessings to you both. Linda and Bill Gandy

Our stay at Houseboat BK 59
by Tomas Farrell

The Houseboat was clean, with plenty of space. Great bathroom. The room big and complete. The place was far from the city center, but 5 minute walk from Amstelstation (Metro) or 5 minute walk from Tram no. 25. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, the sightseeing from the houseboat was spectacular.
Maria and her husband were really warm and worried about our comfort and our stay in Amsterdam in general.
Nothing to complain about!

Review of stay Sept 10 - sept 14 2009
by Monica Ramseyer

I was completely satisfied with my stay and have absolutely nothing to complain about. The owners were very nice without being intruding. The breakfasts served were fantastic. The description on the internet was correct, so there were no negative surprises.
So, this is a houseboat that I could recommend to my friends.

super
by lesaint fab et julie

Hier kriegt man nicht was man erwartet
by Gerold Wiltschko

review of the houseboat on the amstel river in amserdam
by julie byrne

It was so good to share their boat on the Amstel, the breakfast on the terrace with the ducks is a geat start to a day even though we did not venture far !! The colourful gardens are so welcoming !!
And when you just about recover from walking the market, the dogs are there with their toys and the play look in their eyes, who could resist. Hope their teeth are still intact !!! Luckily, I had plenty cans of beer to recover !!!!
George managed to fish from the terrace and catch one though Julie reluctant to swim with the fish never mind eat them !!!
Any of you wanting a great relaxing holiday you should stay with Maria and Thijs and enjoy Amsterdam more leisurely, than all the rush round central station..!!!!????.
good luck to them sharing this I do not think I would !!!!
