We have just returned from a four day stay at this lovely apartment in Amsterdam. The apartment is only a short walk of 10 minutes from Central Station. Alma the owner/ caretaker was there to greet us and show us the ropes - she is very friendly and nice. Everything about this place is just perfect - light,decor, utilities, kitchen,bathroom facilities, bedroom. Don't be put off by the idea it's in the Red Light District - it's in a very quiet part and we weren't disturbed by noise or people at any time. Everything is on your doorstep really.. you never have to go too far to find shops, restaurants and places to visit. We promised ourselves to return to stay in this apartment in the not too distant future. We love our visits to Amsterdam - what a great city - it's relaxed and the food is fantastic - we ate out at every opportunity although the apartment's kitchen is ideal for cooking your own. It's true what's said in other reviews - this apartment is even nicer than the photos and bigger than you would think.

c'est la 3 ème fois que nous louons cet appartement nous nous y sentons bien et si nous revenons à amsterdam je pense que nous y reviendrons.
il fait un peu froid à l'étage mais sinon il est très propre lumineux bien placé car quand même en étant dans le quartier rouge on y est tranquille même si il y a un peu de bruit jusqu'à tard c-est pas gênant.

We have just stayed in this apartment for 5 days and it cannot be faulted.

It is in a perfect location, which is suprisingly quiet at night, is bigger than it looks in the internet pictures and everything you could need or expect for a vacation apartment is provided.

A truly relaxing place to stay - we did not want to leave.

There is no better compliment than to say we will be back!!

We enjoyed our stay at this appartement. Visiting the IBC it was perfect to be in the city centre in the evening and not only nearby the IBC campus. The tibetan restaurant in Lange Niezel is a good tip for dinner.

The apartment that we rented was lovely -- right on the water and open, light and breezy. It was the perfect size for 3 of us (it could have even slept one more). And it was in a great location -- in the center of everything.

Would definitely rent it again!

We spent our honeymoon here. Absolutely loved it! Very well appointed appartment. Much bigger than it looks in pics. Central and easy to find, we explored Amsterdam with this handy base(for dumping shopping, going for a nap etc.) This is our 5th visit to 'the dam' and we usually stay in hotels. This was much much more fun! We enjoyed our visit and will definately be back!

Lovely apartment within 5 minutes walk of Central Station. Great facilities including very well kitted out kitchen with quality fittings and appliances, comfy double bed and nice bath. Perfect location within a stone's throw of all the action but still in a very quiet corner. Perfect for a couple, with plenty of room to have friends staying over too including a dinner table for 6. Not so ideal for groups as bathroom/toilet is ensuite only which makes it a little awkward for those sleeping downstairs on the long sofa (which sleeps 3). Friendly and accommodating agent. All in all, a very secure, comfortable and well presented apartment, in an ideal location.

This apartment was brilliant,we couldnt have asked for a nicer one! it had everything we needed, huge sitting room/kitchen with great views over the canal, the bedroom was different-had the bath&shower in same room, great if there is only 2 of you! Central location. Alma the owner was so nice and helpful. We will definatly be going back!

Everything you could ever want for a getaway. Superbly fitted out, central to everything in Amsterdam and great customer service from Alma - this apartment was a highlight of our holiday.

we stayed in this apartment at the end of november. it is really great :)

The location is great, very close to central station and in the middle of the old center. Alma came to meet us at Centraal station and walked us to the apartment and was very helpful. The apartment itself is very well equipped, even with the details which was great: spices, hair dryer, place mats, many types of cooking utensils, extra linens, etc etc. There is a supermarket a few blocks away.

One thing to note is that the bathroom is upstairs with the bedroom. It's one big open space. The toilet itself does have a door, but anyone sleeping downstairs has to walk past the bed upstairs to get to it. This might be awkward for some people if there is a couple upstairs and someone else downstairs. We had this situation but how nice/clean/cool/spacious the apartment off-set any concerns about this. There is a door to the whole upstairs so one can knock before entering the space ;)

It was really really a lovely trip and this was so much better than staying in a hotel.

Lovely, clean apartment. Great views of the canal, a brilliant place to chill-out and watch the world passing.

I love this place it's the second time we've stayed there. The location couldn't be better and the apartment is really beautiful and comfortable with great views over the canal outside. I've stayed in Amsterdam on more than ten occasions and you wont find anything better than this.

At short notice I was fortunate to get a booking for 4 nights during Easter. It turned out a perfect match for my needs. Central but quiet, spacious, modern, with internet access, a canal view, a small outside terrace, and the added bonus of a bed in the clouds. It would be ideal for two also. The open bath and shower can be made private if you close the trapdoor at the top of the stairs. The stairs are steep so don't bring heavy luggage if you don't have the strength to carry it upstairs. Highly recommended - hope you can get a booking too!

We arrived late with a very tired 8 months baby. We were picked up by Alma at the central station where she patiently had waited for us more than a hour. 10 min. walk to apartment and there it was. Bigger than we expected, absolutely clean og quite stylish. We totally enjoyed our stay and the apartment was big part of it. If the redlight district doesn't bother you, this apartment is really nice - mind the steps :-)

I saw the photos from the website, but I didnt think that everything would be the same as seen and even better.
The house was amazing, it was clean, warm and perfectly decorated. Located in the middle of Amsterdam close to the centre and shops. The house keeper (Alma) was very kind and polite, she made us feel like at home.
We enjoyed so much our time there especially coming back to a house that was perfect!

Lovely, light, airy apartment, very well situated, close to trams and rail station.
We liked the space offered and the unusual bed/bathroom!
It was well stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
We would definitely stay at this apartment again and hpoefully will, in the not too distant future.

We've just come back from staying at this apartment and can honestly say it is really, really brilliant. We've stayed in Amsterdam in apartments and house boats at least once a year for 10 years and it's about the best we've been to, we'll definitely be back. It's really well looked after, clean, not worn at all and all the appliances are new and work properly. It has free WiFi ,is safe and secure and is right in the middle of everything you could possibly need. it's perfect we didn't want to leave.

We had a great time in this apartment. I had read many reviews prior to making my selection and they were all true. This apartment was truly right in the thick of things. The stairs were an adjustment but after a few days, we walked them with ease up and down from the apt.
The windows are great and people watching was fun. The location was spot on and fantastic for everything. And it was clean and simple, which was just what we wanted.
It is best for a couple as the upstairs bedroom and bathroom are connected and without doors, so it would be awkward for other family members or friends to stay and use the same bathroom area, but it is possible.
For my husband and I, it was perfect - in the middle of the city and hub-ub but away a bit if you wanted it to be. I would recommend this apartment highly!

We stayed at the flat from 4/6/07 - 8/7/07. heartily recommend it! It's bigger than it apears in the photos and it has a great location. Yes it is in the Red Light District, but it is just far enough away (one bridge before the red windows!) It is far better equipped than your average self catering place. It's a fantastic place just to recline on the cushions looking out on the canal watching the world go by!It is better suited to a couple than two couples because the toilet and bath and shower are all in the same room as the double bed but on a slightly lower level.Put it this way, the next time we visit Amsterdam we'll book this place if we can get it.

To begin with, as stated by previous reviews, this apartment is best enjoyed by two people (ideally a couple).

But that aside, we will probably never stay anywhere else in Amsterdam than at this apartment. It is well located, has a canal view, has a very small private terrace, great kitchen facilities and the apartment itself is bright and cheery no matter what the weather is like outside .

Although, it is technically in the Red Light District, the apartment is located in a very quiet section of it. It was very easy to imagine you were somewhere else other than in the middle of Amsterdam and next to the RLD. Amsterdam was our last stop on an around-the-world trip. And in the weeks pre-ceeding our stay in Amsterdam, we had stayed in everything from $8 a night guest houses to ridiculously over-the-top accomodations in Dubai. I think our apartment in Amsterdam was by far the best combination of cost, location, fun and tranquility.

Again, I could not recommend this apartment enough. We had an awesome time and we will definitely be back.

Also, the transfer of the keys, etc. went of without a hitch even though we did not arrive in the city until 21:00 and we were pretty frazzled from a long multi-stop flight Dubai. Alma and her daughter were both excellent and really took the time to show us the apartment and make sure we were comfortable with all the features offered.

Anyway, a great experience! I hope everyone's experiences here go as well as ours did.

I have just returned from 3 nights at this apartment, which I was able to book at very short notice due to a cancellation. It was absolutely fantastic and I would definitely go back. If you are looking for somewhere modern and stylish in a central location then you will love it. The stairs are pretty steep so it wouldnt be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties and the bathroom/bedroom is open-plan. It is ideal for a romantic getaway, is very private and well equipped with an excellent sound system and flat screen TV and fabulous canal view. It was so nice we hardly wanted to go out. Highly recommend.

Appartamento perfetto. Bello, luminoso, ben arredato, confortevolissimo. Eravamo in quattro, noi più i nostri due figli (adolescenti) che hanno trovato la connessione a internet, cd, dvd, tv, erano anch'essi entusiasti. Che dire di più. Ci torneremmo volentieri e lo consigliamo caldamente.

Apartment A026 is really cute and very well equipped. Furthermore its position is lovely. You can realx on sofas enjoying the amazing view of canals and old buildings in one of the best Amsterdam's district. I loved it.

We loved the apartment so much we had to drag ourselves away from lounging on the sofas. Although it is on the 'edge' of the Red Light district, you can find elaborate routes to avoid walking through it should you wish to. However, we loved Tangos restaurant late on Sunday night where locals are enjoying an Argentian steak -- and that is less than 5 mins walk from the apartment. The apartment is definitely larger than the photos suggest and the lighting is superb. We wouldn't recommend 4 adults as the loo is upstairs off the bedroom - which by the way is very romantic and is elavated above floor level and overlooks a rather spacious bathroom and open plan shower. Being the traditional 'canal boat' client, we're now torn........Just go there and experience it for yourself -- you shant regret. P.s. there is an microwave come convection oven in the kitchen. T&L

I stayed in A026 for two weeks in November of 2006. I have to say that I was pleasently surprised by the apartment. The pictures really do not capture how nice and clean it really is.

It is in a great location. Close to Centraal Station and Dam Square. The apartment is charming and is a great set-up for a single person or a couple. Four people would need to be on close terms to enjoys this apartment.

I travel to Amsterdam twice a year and I will never stay any place else. This is far superior to a hotel room. Just the fact that there is a clothes washer/dryer and a well stocked kitchen is great. That the apartment is comfortable and well maintained is a bonus.

The only negative: I would not recommend the apartment to those who are easily shocked by the sights of the RLD or have children that might be.

Also, I can not say enough nice things about the person who takes you to the apartment, Marian. She is very helpful and nice. She met me at the train station, was cheerful after a long wait, and showed me directly to the apartment. Marian was one of the highlights of my trip, after a 15 hour journey, she was the calm in the storm.

The people from Houseboat Apartment Hotel (www.houseboathotel.nl) were great as well. They were fast and efficient.

The unit was very clean. The beds were adequate.
It was close to everything in the Red Light District (and Central Station). And there is a small tavern next door.
It sleep 3 people quite easily. It would sleep 4 if two people shared the loft.
The loft has a spacious bedroom which shares the bathroom space. There is a small patio off the bathroom door. Keep that curtain shut!

I would definitely suggest this location as a place to stay!

Absolutely fantastic apartment, nice and central but quiet at night. The host Marian is great, really efficient and friendly. The apartment itself surpassed my expectations completely, it looks a lot bigger than the photos indicate, and was clean and in great condition.

We stayed in this apartment for three nights. Finding it was not a problem, as we were met at the Central Station and taken directly there.... it is no more than a five minute walk.
The apartment itself more than lived up to its description, being spacious and comfortable, and you really couldnt get a more central position!
Much better than staying in an hotel!

Only one observation, I would not really reccomend it for family with children. Too many drug addicts (and prostitutes) too close. My son is used to a lively neighbourood in a big city, but yet, he was sometimes nervous...

We stayed 4 nights in the apartment and we finded everything OK at the arrival (all clean, all well prepared with sheets, towels...) .

Excellent situation in the center of Amsterdam in the red-light district. Two minutes walking from the central station. Surprisingly it was not very noisy at night.

It's really enough for 2 people, but maybe it's a little uncomfortable for 4 people. There is only a really double bed upstairs and the other 2 people have to sleep in the "sofa-bed" in the dinning room. There is only one bathroom upstairs.

I really appreciate the accomodation. The apartment was excellent (far better than we expected): new, well furnished, clean and had everything we needed. The open area bathroom - bedroom is really exquisite and certainly is a touch of a great architect!

The location was perfect (in the middle of the centre, in the red light area, but in a very quite and amazing corner).
Staying in this apartment certainly contributed to make our 4 days holiday in Amsterdam perfect. Your organization was really good in providing us a very good service. We really recommend this apartment to everybody!

The Apartment was absolutely amazing! The pictures on the website certainly does it no justice! GREAT APARTMENT!THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY IF YOU MANT TO EXPLORE THE CENTRE OF AMSTERDAM.

This is quite a striking apartment when you first enter, the open plan bedroom/bathroom is quite exquisite. This is a very relaxing place to be, nicely in the middle of the activity yet in a quiet spot so you can leave it behind you when you go to bed. It is about a 4 - 5 min walk from the train station which is also handy.

The one thing that this apartment lacks is an oven, so be prepared to boil, fry or microwave your food, there are numerous places to eat nearby so it is no great loss.

I was personally escorted to the apartment by the extremely friendly Manager, which i thought was a great touch as the small cobbled streets in Amsterdam are quitre intimidating if you have not been before!

All in all a very enjoyable stay!
