We booked the BK46 house boat for our recent short break to Amsterdam. The owner Paul was really lovely and very helpful. The accommodation, although small, was very clean and well equipped. Toilet and shower facilities were top notch for a boat, very clean and spacious considering. Only draw back was that each bedroom had their own upstairs sitting room and as we were a party of 4 we would have liked a larger communal room where we could have all sat together. The street was very quiet and peaceful. I would definitely come back!

A great place and great hosts | 3 April 2011 Fionn and Karla
This is a very cute houseboat with a window looking over the water. My partner and I had a lovely stay. The hosts were very nice, very friendly, helping us to find things that we were after. The area was one of the biggest attractions - lovely cafes, bars, quiets, arty. Thank you very much

Great Accomodation | 7 December 2010 Liz
Not as spacious as the photo's look but very comfortable all the same. The rooms are nice & warm, ideal for November weather. They were very nice about our possible delayed flight home (Edinburgh Airport) and allowed us to stay longer in the appartment. Owners were friendly and helpful.
The accomodation is about 30-45 mins away from the centre, but the walk is worth it, even in the snow.
Would definetely use this accom again.

Appréciation | 23 April 2010 Angélique Restelli
Bonjour,

Houseboat was a BRILLIANT idea! | 1 November 2009 Doug d'Heilly
Neither myself nor my friend had ever been to Amsterdam but thought a houseboat might be a great alternative to hotels or apartments...we made a GREAT decision! The owners of the houseboat, Paul and Cassandra, provided many outstanding tips for restaurants, museums, etc., in addition to treating us like their own personal guests. We got to see and understand Amsterdam from a "locals" perspective, which made this vibrant city all the more interesting. Waking up to crew races that we could view from our individual "lofts" in each of our rooms was just an added bonus. We have already recommended this specific houseboat to a number of friends and will not stay ANYWHERE ELSE when we return (which is an absolute certainty). If you are lucky enough to secure this houseboat during your stay in Amsterdam, you will understand that this review is anything but an exaggeration...Paul and Cassandra (and their accommodations) are the best!

lovely stay! | 4 August 2009 mimichilli, brighton
We had a lovely time staying in this teeny tiny houseboat apartment. Although small it has almost everything you need for a short stay (probably a week is max), though we would have liked a sofa to put our feet up on after a day of walking round town. It was great being at water level and the kids made friends with the local ducklings! The owners are very friendly and amenable with a lovely dog and we felt welcomed. The area is not far from town but the no. 3 tram stops nearby to take you to the museum quarter and the metro is really close too. No need to take a taxi to the centraal station - it takes 5 minutes by metro. All in all it was a good trip. Thanks, Paul and Cassandra

Perfect way to explore Amsterdam | 21 July 2009 Debbie
We have just returned from a wonderful stay on the Amstel Over Night in Amsterdam. The houseboat was small but totally functional and charming. It's location was about a 20 minute walk from downtown Amsterdam and just up the street from a metro station - perfect for exploring the city during the day and returning to a calm night on the water. Paul and Cassandra are lovely hosts and went out of their way to provide information on the local area and Amsterdam itself. We would stay there again in an instant and would definitely recommend it to our friends. One note of caution: there are steep stairs leading down to the "ground" floor, so this houseboat is not a good option if you have trouble navigating stairs.

Great Experience | 15 July 2009 Ryan & Nicole
We stayed on this houseboat for four nights in May and had a wonderful experience! The owners are very kind and willing to offer advice on where to go and what to do in the city. It is in a great location...just a short walk, or metro ride, into the city center. There were four of us that stayed here and we couldn't have asked for anything more! It could be a little tight for four people, but if you're there to see the city and experience everything you won't be in there for long anyways.

Having arrived back from amsterdam today after staying on the amstel overnight houseboat i can say with all confidence we all had a great time, the houseboat was lovely it was nicely decorated and felt warm and welcoming as soon as we arrived. The location was perfect a beautifull view over the river to wake up to in the morning and only a short walk from the center. The immediate area was quiet which was great to return to after the hustle and bustle of the city center.
If I am to return to Amsterdam I will most definately want to stay here again.

| More than perfect....... | 5 February 2009
We stayed in the houseboat for a week in October of 2008. We could not have been happier with our accomodations.
From our arrival to our departure we looked forward everyday to going "home" after a busy day touring. Our evenings spent sipping wine and enjoying the view will always bring me special memories.
We enjoyed riding our bikes south along the Amstel into the countryside. So close but a completely different world from the city.
Amstel Overnight is close to the metro, there are 2 grocery stores close by and the nearby restaurants are fabulous. I had the best pizza in my life just up the street (north). There is also a laundromat within walking distance.
The hosts were friendly, funny and helpful. Thank you for the wine, it was wonderful.
Thank you for making it the perfect vacation.
It is truly my hope to return to the Netherlands one day soon and again enjoy all Amstel Overnight has to offer.

Amsterdam-December 2008 | 11 December 2008 Stefania email: xstefaniax (at) yahoo (dot) com
We booked this boat for our trip in Amsterdam, to try something different, and it really was! The boat is really cool, and big enough for 4 people. From the outside it doesn't look like a real boat (as I expected) but from the windows you have the most beautiful view ever..and sometimes you can have also a swam knocking on your window :) The owner is really kind, helpful, and funny! The boat is very clean, and you can find sheets, towels and also extra blankets.
The location is great! You will be 3 minutes walking from the closest metro station, but you can also walk till the city centre, because Amsterdam is not that big.
In conclusion I can say that I reccomend this boat for a different stay in Amsterdam!

18 June 2008
We had a very memorable stay at the Amstel houseboat! The hosts are very friendly and the hoaseboat itself is located just a corner away from the Metro.
The owners live just next door just in case you need them, but at the same time they give you your own privacy and didn't bother us at all! They were also kind enough to give us a complimentary bottle of wine.
The houseboat itself isn't very large, but the rooms are built with very good use of space! It consists of a shower, toilet, kitchen area and two double bedrooms both of which have a loft with two chairs, a TV with DVD, and an amaziing view of the river. The interior decor is also very nice.
We'd recommend this houseboat to anyone visiting Amstedam who is looking for something different rather than a hotel room! *****

Wonderful Stay - I'd recommend to my family and friends! | 26 May 2008 Jenny Nichols
My husband and I rented this houseboat for 4 nights. When we got to Central Station we took a cab to the houseboat and it cost 15 Euro. Had we realized that the Metro was only a block away from the houseboat we would have taken that instead. We arrived about 8pm on 11 May. The owners of the houseboat live just next door - and actually the two portions are connected. After our initial greeting we didn't see the owners again but they were available in case we needed them for anything - they even left us a card with their phone numbers on it in case we were out and needed help. As you enter the houseboat you'll find a set of very steep steps which lead down into the kitchen area. We found a bottle of wine, some snacks and travel books available for reference. The kitchen area consists of a small countertop with a coffeemaker, tea kettle, toaster and mini fridge. Glasses, plates and utensils are also provided - as well as sugar, coffee, creamer and tea. You'll find a small corner grocery if you walk toward the metro station and another grocery store just down the street from the corner grocery. It came in handy to stock the fridge with beverages and we were able to buy some fruit, etc for breakfasts. The shower and toilet are separate small rooms. The toilet had a small hand wash sink and was restocked halfway through our stay with more toilet paper (we also found fresh towels too). The shower was fabulous and never ran out of hot water. I didn't expect much from a houseboat shower but was presently surprised. There is a decent sink in the shower room and some dish soap where you can wash your dirty dishes. In each bedroom there is a good sized double/queen bed - but I will admit the mattress was quite hard. They had extra duvets in each room which we used to cushion the mattress. Each bed has an area off to the side of the bed to keep a glass of water or a book/magazine. Both rooms have digital clocks in them. Each room has a large armoire to store clothes. There is space under the stairs and under the small desk which is in one of the rooms to store your luggage. Each room has a loft area above it with a couple nice cushy chairs and two large windows in which to enjoy your morning breakfast. Both lofts have clocks, a TV and DVD player in them (girls, you won't find a blow-dryer anywhere in the houseboat). One loft has a table in between the two chairs - however there is such a spacious window sill in the loft areas that the table isn't necessary unless playing a board game of some type. I found that the lofts were quite cozy for two people. There are 2 folding chairs provided so that 4 people could sit in one loft together but I felt that it might be quite crowded for 4 people. Each loft has windows that open - but keep in mind that at night you'll want to have the lights off or the mosquitoes will come in and get ya! The Wifi password we got for the internet was really LONG and we could never get it to work. We did find several other wifi systems we could use because they were not locked. Regardless, the internet seemed to only work well when you were sitting in a certain spot and it seemed to work better while in the lofts. The pictures on the website show a patio along the Amstel - but don't be fooled - that is the owners patio. There is a terrace available to use which is basically a few wooden chairs and a bench at the entrance of the houseboat. The picture on the website of the terrace didn't look to me like the same one that is actually there. The houseboat is quite aways from the center of town but that was really useful in that it wasn't so 'touristy' and you were able to fine decent food at a reasonable price. There are some decent little restaurants just down the road from the houseboat. You can get a pizza to split for 10 euro. The houseboat is literally a few minute walk to the nearest metro station and then only a few minute ride on the metro to Central Station. From Central Station you can catch just about any tram to where you'd like to go. Buy a transportation ticket while you are there - this will get you unlimited rides on all the trams and metros. Depending on how long you're staying and what you want to see - the Iamsterdam Pass is a great deal. We would definitely return to this houseboat in the future. It was the most relaxing stay and the best part of our trip. We had such a fabulous time there. It was probably one of the best planning decisions we made regarding our vacation. When in Amsterdam - stay in a houseboat!

We recently stayed on the Amstel houseboat and had a very pleasant stay. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. While the accomocations are a little small they are very clean and well maintained. Our stay on Amstel overnight was a pleasure. Owners are very friendly, we had a bottle of wine and some snacks as a xmas & welcome presents ;)
The boat is divided in 2 parts, one for the owners and one for rent. The guests part was very neat and clean, but smaller than expected : beware of wide-angle pics. Anyway, the overall impression stays positive, it seems that we were in a normal range of price for Amsterdam.

This was a very nice place to stay. The rooms were cozy and comfortable and the sitting areas upstairs were very nice, with a pretty view over the river. The location was great; it took about 5 minutes to get to the Metro and then it was just a few quick stops to Central Station. It was also only a short walk to the street car that went to the Museumplein and many shops and restaurants were within a 10 minute walk. The hosts are very nice, friendly, and helpful.
