Amazing
by Lance Daly

40th Wedding Anniversary present from our family! Wow!We had been to Amsterdam several times, and joked, we would retire there on a houseboat! The location is amazing, the architecture surrounding the houseboat beautiful.Church bells lending to the ambiance...The houseboat,spacious,relaxing..lovely couch and seating area, although, would add curtains to the window behind tv...Spacious balcony to sit on and watch the boats go by!Welcoming cafe's and pubs 2 minutes away..Fresh white towels + robes would have been the icing on the cake!(coloured old towels supplied)Never stay in a hotel again! Irene, the host, lovely lady..(came on the boat, when we were out!left wine... knocked next day to introduce herself..also, took people out in a little boat, moored to the balcony, this is the only minus,as we value our privacy)definitely, will be back TO THIS HOUSEBOAT soon hopefully..

Unique Amsterdam experience
by Jacquelyn Ross

My friend and I were excited to stay in a houseboat for our trip to Amsterdam, and enjoyed the unique experience. The boat offers all the comforts of an apartment, and comes complete with a kitchenette and small refrigerator, a cook-top, microwave, coffeemaker and tea kettle. Dishes, utensils and everything you need for a relaxing stay are supplied, and there's even some coffee and tea at hand so you can relax when you first arrive and settle in. Our hostess, Irene, supplied a bottle of wine and some beautiful tulips that brightened our day every time we entered the door.
As others have pointed out, the door to the shower doubles as the door to the restroom. The boat is ideal for couples looking for an intimate getaway; if you're traveling with a friend, be prepared to share your space. The second bed in the living room is a small futon; my friend and I ended up sharing the bedroom for comfort's sake... and the door to the restroom can't separate the bedroom from the toilet.
The shower has recently been replaced, and we were thrilled with the water pressure and ample hot water that warmed us up each morning before we went exploring. (It was unseasonably cold during our visit in early April.)
Explore the nooks and crannies to find extra plates, pots and pans and other helpful items. A hairdryer and other useful items are in the bedroom cupboard.
Irene was especially accommodating and invited us to come to the boathouse immediately upon arriving in the morning after our flight. Be sure to reach out personally with any special requests for personal attention. (She also made some great restaurant recommendations, and we were delighted to run into her at dinner one evening and meet her dogs!)
For visitors coming from quiet suburbs or country settings, be prepared for the sounds of a city. Prinsengracht draws lots of visitors thanks to the nearby Ann Frank huis (worth a visit, but get your tickets online!). You'll hear the sounds of excited people on the street into the late hours of the night. During the day, the canal gets lots of traffic from the popular tour boats. Have fun waving at the people on the tours and posing as a local! (The shower window has been covered with film so folks can't see in.)
All in all, our houseboat stay will be one of our favorite cherished memories from our trip!

12/13/12 though 12/18/12
by Robert Kanz

Our trip to Amsterdam will be one that we will never forget. The Christmas boat parade came right past the boat while we watched comfortibly from our outdoor balcony. The boat was cozy and very comfortable. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. Our hostess, Irene was very helpful. Out television cable box went out our first night. She went out of her way to make sure it was repaired the following afternoon. The bottle of wine and flowers waiting for us when we arrived was a very nice and friendly touch. We felt like a local during our stay. As the tour boats past our window, we would wave at all the tourists and pretend that we really lived there. We would highly recommend you consider your stay at Boat BO44. Excellent value, friendly service with a view of the "true" Amsterdam. Thank you Irene for such a pleasant time!
