Appartement - Hauseboot in Amsterdam

What can I say, the boat was spotless, the beds in the rooms were bunkbeds, but I am over 2 metres tall and was able to sleep flat out and were really comfortable. There were 10 of us staying in the boat, and it was truelly brilliant, we had the run of the boat as we hired it out totally and were really impressed as they had tv. dvd and all the usual mod cons. There was even a couple in the owners side of the boat to ensure that everything went well.
The boat was also positioned near Nemo museum, it was very quiet and peaceful.
I cannot say enough about this boat and have recommended it to friends already. If you want a safe and quiet place to stay in Amsterdam for a group of friends, then this is it!

Our extended family of 14 spent two nights on the Avanti in August 2009. The owner, Erik, was very helpful in getting our luggage from the Central Station to the the Avanti using his fishing boat (we had just spent 12 days on a Baltic cruise so had lots of luggage). The Avanti caretakers, Eleanor and Jurit (sp?), were very friendly and helpful during our stay. We found the location of the boat to be very convenient and within easy walking distance to most landmarks. We also used the Hop On Hop Off boats for exploring the city and there are stops at the Nemo and Sea Palace which are very close to the Avanti. There were six children in our group ages 4 - 14 and all thoroughly enjoyed the houseboat experience as did all of the adults. The 14 sleeping rooms aboard the Avanti are small, but adequate. Each has a small closet and sink. There are four showers and plenty of bathrooms. We especially enjoyed sitting outside on the deck in the evening.

I stayed on the above mentioned boat with a group of 9 friends. The boat itself was larger than i and most of my friends expected. The accommodation was very spacious and extremely tidy. We had the luxury of having a cabin each which was ideal, however, if there were more than 14 people staying on the boat i could imainge it would get a bit cramped, especially in sharing a room. In saying that, this is the only con i could find with boat. It is ideally situated for getting around the city (10min walk from central station) and also has plenty small shops nearby for getting any essentials for the boat. The living room area was great for just relaxing in the morning and the captain of this boat was very helpful. I would definately recommend this accommodation for any group of friends looking for somewhere to stay in Amsterdam.

Me and 9 friends spent 4 days on the boat for my 30th birthday and found the whole experience extremly enjoyable and stress free.
We were given great directions (including a map) prior to our stay and Eric (the captain) kept in contact via E-mail and provided his mob no in case of any problems.
Eric met us on arrival to explain where/what everything was and then left us to it. He was incredibly friendly and helpful with a good sense of humur to boot.
The boat itself is very spacious, comfortable, warm and has every thing you need and is only a 10-15 min walk from all the major attractions in the centre of town. The surrounding waters are beautiful and we had many visits from the local ducks and swans. The area is quiet and relaxed but still close enough to enjoy the bussle of town if you dont mind a short walk. Its also very cheap compared to the local hotels.
I really would recomend a stay on this boat to add to the whole experince of Amsterdam.
