Comfortable, Close-in Nest on the Canal
by Leonard Fishler

We spent 9 days in May at this wonderful nest on the canal. Bottom line, we loved it, and are coming back, 5 Stars! We got to enjoy the neighbors (a family of coots nesting next to the boat), and visitors (a family of swans that glided up to our window one day). The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and homey. This was truly a magical place, we were so relaxed here. Walking distance to the main central Amsterdam sites, a short walk to excellent Indonesian, East African, Thai restaurants, a short walk to the tram and subway stops. A great base of operations to explore Amsterdam and the surrounds, that allows you to retreat from the bustle of the city, yet is close in. An excellent neighborhood, safe feeling, quiet. The kitchen is mostly well equipped, missing a microwave however, and it has a small Euro-style fridge. The bed is comfortable, and bedroom has plenty of privacy, as well as housing the convenient washer/dryer. Storage/closet space is minimal, a coat-rack would have been handy. The shower is a boat-shower room, which also contains the toilet and sink. Plenty of pressure and hot water, a good shower for Americans. Outdoor deck with table and chairs is a nice plus, there's enough canal traffic to be interesting, but not too much, as the houseboat is on a side canal off the Amstel.

Great stay!
by joel myerson

What a delightful boat! We were an easy walk to all the museums and markets, and the #9 tram went directly to the central station from about two blocks away. And there were two grocery stores within a five minutes’ walk (including a big Albert Heijn). The furnishings were beautiful—especially the African materials—and Carolien was a wonderful hostess, meeting us at the boat and filling us in on all the details of the neighborhood. It was great to have our coffee and look across the water at the Hermitage Amsterdam, and the lines waiting for the exhibits. Greta and Joel, March 2013

Lovely time!
by Sydney Padua

My husband and I just spent a week in this lovely floating-flat. So warm, cozy, and peaceful it was hard to make ourselves go out and see the sights in the chill and rain! So nice feeding the ducks out the kitchen window over breakfast and waking up to glimpses of the Van Goghs in the Hermitage across the water. Location is very quiet, but we could walk to the zoo, museums, a wide range of excellent pubs and restaurants, or the metro/trams in minutes. Highly recommended.
