In the middle of the centre, on a lively spot on the Amstel River, you find this toally new refurnished and renovated houseboat. It has a spacious living-room with a huge coach (2.20 x 1.20mtr.) and there are three bedrooms, two with kingsize beds and one with two single beds that can be turned into a third kingsize bed. The bathroom exsists of a nice tub and separated shower. Toilet is separate. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern comfort like a dishwasher, oven and microwave. The boat has a portable airconditioning.

You can sit on the deck until late in the evening with some candles and a botte of wine, listening to the murmuring water and enjoy the passing of the ships. And if it's raining you can sit in the cabin where the owner made a relaxing couch (finished 01-06-2006)  From the boat you are a few steps from the Munttower, the Rembrandtsquare and the Waterloosquare. A washingmachine and dryer, television, cdplayer, radio and highspeed internet connection are at your disposal. We had a great stay!
by Chad Stalker

This is the second time I have stayed on a houseboat in Amsterdam and it really is the only way to experience this crazy city.
House boat 040 is in a very nice location within walking distance to everything. It has a beautiful view on Amsterdam's widest canal. One key feature is there is no road for cars next to the boat so traffic is limited to bikes/mopeds/walkers.
Right out the front door is Amstel Hoeck, or "Amstel Corner", aka the Grand Café. They serve food from early morning to late night. The boat is also located next to the opera house. The bar scene at Rembrandt Square is a short walk away, as well as quality coffee shops like Green House. A supermarket is a couple blocks away and has everything you might need.
Everyday there is a Flea Market right around the corner, like a 30 second walk. They have lots of good cheap shopping and it is a lot of fun.
One issue I would have liked to see improved with the boat is more sheets and pillow cases. Also in the ad it says 3 king sized beds basically, European king size and US king size must be very different. The beds were fine but no where near king size.
Frank the boat owner was very kind and non intrusive. He rented us some bikes however we never used them because some in our group there were questionable riders as far as safety, the traffic there is chaotic and dangerous.
Overall I would rate my stay a solid 9 on the boat and I would stay there again, the location doesn't get much better. I will be back, thanks Frank.

(Old) Lads holiday
by Andrew Burton

We stayed here recently for 3 nights, 5 lads (all now 40-something) looking to re-live our youth but in a bit of comfort and style. The boat was absolutely perfect for us being right in the middle of the city but in a nice quiet area, perfect as a base for exploring the sites but equally great as somewhere to come back to at the end of a long day and sit on deck watching the world go by. Couldn't fault it!
