House-Boat B020 ****

Highly recommended: a very luxurious and grand barge, named "Captain's Place"
for  4 - 6 persons. It is set on a spectacular rebuilt ship, de Pas Meprise, and is located on a beautiful spot on a island less then 10 minutes by bus or bike from Central Station. There are a lot of visitors during the day because of it's well known buildings and famous architecture. A supermarket is close by, restaurants and café's as well. Bikes are for rent on the island. Children are welcome, there are 3 life-jackets on board.
Houseboat B027 (4 - 6 persons) is nearly next door.

The boat has a modern central heating system, but in the lounge you find
a woodstove for the cosiness. There is a modern well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. In the middle of the boat is a real patio with a glass removable roof with a banana tree and grapes. This patio can be used in the winter as well! There are two bedrooms, spacey and classically decorated, both with private bathrooms with tub and there are extra rollaway beds. From the deck you have a splendid view of passing ships. Further you find two televisions, dvd-player, radio, cd-player and a computer with fast internet connection with Skype on board. The Captain can take you for a tour for a half day (for a reasonable price), to the flowerfields or small villages in the North in a beautiful sloop.Click
here for reviews.

If  the weather and schedule permit it, you will be picked up by sloop from Central Station. It takes 10 minutes by sloop to Captain's Place.

long weekend B020
by Treharne & Ball

This a lovely converted cargo boat, not your typical canal house boat, much bigger. It is very clean and comfortable with two nice big double bedrooms with clean bathrooms, both with baths and over bath showers, which give a good flow of water and are nice and hot. The garden room is a beautiful social area, although the dinning room chairs could do with a re-upholstery as the seats sag so the chairs can cut in a little behind the knees but we did sit up on them until the wee hours and there are cushions! The beds are old with what feels like horsehair mattresses but they mold around you giving a very comfortable nights sleep. Plenty of extra bedding and the heating system was quick and easy to use and warmed up the boat a treat. The sitting room chairs are lovely and the kitchen facilities were more then we ever needed. A big plus for a rented house boat was the dish washer and plenty of cups, glasses and plates. The boat is situated further out from town but the trams and buses are every 10 mins so no problems and got us using the transport system. Lovely area with shops and cafes near, the bar next to the tram stop is great with good music and lovely bar staff, was open until 3am on the Sat night. Access is not too difficult although the stairs down to the front door are steep there is a railing and they are proper stairs not steps. Small windows and boats moored from front so boats to the sides, so different views from your normal side moored canal boat. Our host Eugène, lives in own apartment on board, he is very approachable and helpful without being intrusive. Would highly recommend but not to 18 year old boozers as area is residential.

Das Boot ist sehr schön.Ruhig gelegen und mit den OV gut erreichbar. Das Boot bietet viel Platz für Familien und der Kapitain ist sehr nett. Sehr zu empfehlen.
