House-Boat B069 ****

This boat for 2 - 4 persons is moored on a top location, on the Singelgracht. It's the first and oldest canal in the centre and it is only a 5 minute walk from Central Station. On the Singel you find the flowermarket, the Odeon disco (the famoust in Amsterdam with music for all ages) and multiple large shopping streets crossing the Singel like the Haarlemmerstraat and Leidsestraat.

The boat is totally renovated to a high standard. There is a small deck with a wooden bench and cushions. The interior and furniture are modern and comfortable, the colors are subdued. There is a living room with open plan kitchen, here you find an electric fireplace for the cosiness and a flatscreen television to relax after a day sighseing! There are 2 bedrooms. One has a king sized bed, the other has a bunkbed (2 x 1.20 x 2 mtr.). The bathroom has a whirpool spa with 28 jets and twinkling lights in the dark, and 2 modern sinks. The kitchen has utilities for 4 persons, an oven, fridge and microwave. There is a little safe,  two large plasma televisions (one in the bedroom), dvd and wireless internet connection. Smoking is only allowed outside on the deck. Reviews

great way to spend time on the water in Amsterdam
by I Burki

My family and I spent our first vacation on a houseboat and were not disappointed!
We were close enough to the center that we could walk to all parts of the old city, but on a quiet section of a sleepy canal at night.
The houseboat was very clean and comfortable with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom with a big jacuzzi tub. The living area was functional (we didn't spend much time there), but with the great sunny August weather, we spent "quality" time on the rooftop, drinking wine and watching people and boats go by.
The owners were very responsive and we had an easy on/off boarding experience...we parked our car in the long term park and ride (P+R), 6km away, with a quick tram ride back to the central station (nearby)...you could also park your car in front of the houseboat, but for a much higher parking meter fee.
Overall: highly recommend the experience, whether with a group of friends or a family.

Cozy, modern, great location, remarkably quiet
by William Cressman

It was a great experience staying in a house boat. We have two kids (6 and 7) who thought it was neat and wanted to spend a lot of time in the boat. The house was clean and had everything we needed, including a full kitchen with coffee maker and other appliances. It is bright and comfortable inside, both on a rainy and sunny day. The kids especially loved the jacuzzi bath which is really big and has a multi-colored light under the water. The house is even plumbed to drinkable city water which tastes very good.
The location really is just a few minutes from central station and even closer are shops and restaurants. The nearest coffee shop is about half a block away.
The steps into the living room are quite steep - more of a ladder- but after the first try it was easy for everyone to get in and out.
We were surprised about how quiet it was at night, even in the heart of the city and so close to everything.
Thanks!

Great location!
by Ingrid

We'd previously stayed on another houseboat (B026) allowing some comparisons. This boat was very conveniently located near Centraal station in a lovely part of Amsterdam. It was more upmarket and had a particularly good bathroom and space for 4 people, justifying the higher price. Wifi and heating was good, and a 2nd TV in the bedroom a bonus. Our only disappointment was the absence of a water view (except when standing in the kitchen area) and its somewhat closed in feeling, lower windows on both sides being something we now realise is worth looking out for. Being able to watch boats and swans pass by B026 was very special! The kitchen facilities were also pretty basic with no microwave or toaster, and quite limited cooking utensils, but probably OK for a short stay.
