House-Boat B068 ****

This over a 100 year old houseboat (de Medicijnman) used to be a sailing boat and was transformed into a houseboat with many characteristic old details. The boat is perfect for a romantic break, because it is located in the old centre in an oasis of tranquillity with the Zoo on the other side of the canal.

Central Station and Dam Square are on walking distance and nearby are well known museums like Scheepsvaartmuseum and Tropenmuseum, Chinatown, the Opera House and Music Hall. In less than 2 minutes walk you are at the Kadijk square, where many nice restaurants are located, such as A Tavola, one of the best Italian restaurants in Amsterdam. The Brewery ‘‘t IJ” is just around the corner.

The boat is warm and well equipped with modern facilities. The living room has panoramic windows, which let in a lot of light and give beautiful views just above water level. In the living room is a couch, which can be turned into a double bed, a big dining table and a charming open plan kitchen. The bedroom has a double bed with 4 authentic portholes. The bathroom consists of a bathtub with a shower. The sundeck enables you to enjoy spectacular views of the Entrepotdok with on one side the warehouses Amsterdam is famous for and on the other side boats passing by in the presence of various types of water birds. The strategic position of the boat ensures you will be able to enjoy sun from the early morning until the late evening thereby catering for a sunny breakfast and a spectacular sunset!

Amsterdam on the Water
by Steve & Pauline Jenkins

BO68 is wonderfully positioned opposite the Artis Zoo in a quiet area East of the city centre. The boat is well equipped and comfortable. It is a brisk walk into the centre or if you are feeling less active the tram service stops at the Zoo and it it only a few stops to Dam Square. The boat is moored next to refurbished warehouses which now provide up-market apartments. It is a very nice area. Parking was arranged in the nearby underground car park for a very reasonable fee. Its a great way to spend some time in the most liberated and cosmopolitan of European cities.

a special place to stay in a great location
by Leo

This lovely house boat is a very special place to stay in Amsterdam. We were lucky enough to have enough sunshine to sit outside one afternoon relaxing on the deck and enjoying life on the canal, watching the world go by, and counting the number of giraffe and zebra in the zoo opposite - how often can you say you were relaxing on a boat and watching giraffes go by! The house boat is in a great location and a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay;

Highlight of my trip
by Vincent White

I've been to Amsterdam several times, but on this occasion decided to do it differently by staying on a genuine houseboat. I have to agree with all the other reviews, the boat is superbly equipped, ideally located, and a haven of tranquility - everything I hoped for and more. I wouldn't normally bother to write a review, but felt compelled to after having such an excellent experience. I will definitely be back, and would not hesitate to recommend to friends.
