New arrival, 08-07-'12. This House-Boat is a monumental, authentic ship, built in 1927 with a beautiful Berkel Motor that is still running. It's located on the Keizersgracht (one of the famous canals in the city-center) in 'the Jordaan'. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, both with LCD tv and DVD. One bathroom has a luxury whirpool with a built-in radio and the other bedroom has a private shower. The toilet is separate. In between is the living room with a couch wich can be turned into a single bed.
The boat has been totally rebuilt this year and has led lights, which give a fantastic bright colorfull light that can be changed from blue, to purple, to green. It has a modern design, yet you feel the long history of this ship when you are on board. The kitchen is fully equipped for 5 persons. There are big cushions on the deck and 4 chairs.
The houseboat is located in the Jordaan, nearby the Noordermarkt. The Noordermarket is a market where they sell stuff from the fiftees and hundreds of different fabrics. Nearby are many cafes and restaurants, and numerous small shops selling antiques, second hand clothes and artistic artifacts. Famous, must see-sights are all within 5 to 10 minutes walk of the houseboat such as, the Noordermarkt, the Nine Streets (9 straatjes), the Anne Frank House, the main shopping area and Central Station.
