This was my first visit to Amsterdam... We visited as an extended family of five.

I heard about the rental through a friend who said that staying in an apartment on a canal was the way to go.
Like you, I looked at the description and the photos...
I like the idea of staying in a comfortable furnished apartment with a kitchen and a living room and being closer to the heart of the city rather than in the tourist zone.
The apartment was clean, well furnished (YES, i did bring my own machinetta for expresso ... to join the oft repeated snack of coffee brie, gouda , oranges and fresh bread when so inclined) and i enjoyed being able to move comfortably without having to walk a distance to be in a beautiful, relatively quiet part of the city with history... (Anne Frank and her family lived on the block facing the Singel canal 2 doors away..)

The building was erected in the 1600s. The apartment was contemporary..it was cold outside (30-50’F) during our visit… the apartment remained comfortable.

None of us felt cramped in the rooms...

Restaurants, cafes, bars, the flower market, bookshops, food stores and a square that has an outdoor market selling old books, prints and LPs was a short walk.
My sons were able to rent bikes nearby and they still swear it's the best way to see the city.

The owners of the apartment were the proprietors of the sign shop of the first and second floors. They were nice, very helpful, even helped by making an appointment to see a neighborhood family physician ( who was also first rate).

I don't know how many languages our hosts speak but we had no problem communicating in English, though I imagine they speak several languages.
We visited in late March and it was colder than expected and we mostly walked aroung the city... the apartment was comfortable and this is one of the most civilized and tolerant places I have visited. Living in the apartment, out of the tourist zone but not remote , getting tips and having conversations with Patrick, Rachnall, Rene and Hans, made our visit very easy to enjoy.

Also… we all felt pretty safe in Amsterdam and there wasn’t a big police presence.

Great place

Just coming back from Amsterdam..... Family with 3 kids (12,12,10).... This apartment is very well located, walking distance from the train station and all the touristic places..... Bit noisy but we're in town.... Very simple to find, Rachel wasn't there at our arrival, but she send us all the details to enter..... Very clean....need a little refresh in some rooms... I will recommend it......

Great apartment very well located
by Selim Bakir

The owners are very friendly and really cares about the comfort of your trip.
The apartment is very spacious (can be up to 9 peoples), very clean and with a great view of the canals in the center of Amsterdam.
The price is more than adequate for space, services and location.
Recommended to address and re-do it without hesitation.
